Criticism is a consequence of being good. The Cowboys are simply held to a higher standard.
First off, opinions are like a--holes, everyone has one but There's good reason for that skepticism, The Cowboy defense isn't great!
I've never heard anyone suggest this is a gimmick team. The knock against us making the superbowl is almost always the same. We don't have the defense.
No I don't hear that stuff outside of maybe fan comments. And who would say he doesn't throw down field? Doesn't he have one of the highest yards/attempt in the league? lolMaybe "gimmick" is a bad choice of wording.
But I'm sure you've heard them talk about more than just a bad defense. Rookie QB who doesn't throw down field, never has to play from behind, relies too heavily on success in the run game. All of the above.
Yep.........It's a easy prediction to make. The odds are good that they will be right and it goes for any team in the playoffs.
The crazy thing is while he's not highly touted for downfield throws, Dak appears to be running circles around Carson Wentz in that department. No I don't hear that stuff outside of maybe fan comments. And who would say he doesn't throw down field? Doesn't he have the second highest yards/attempt in the league? lol
Our D doesn't have a pass rush, can't create turnovers (even when they're practically gift wrapped) and they routinely struggle to get offenses off the field in 3rd and long situations. All of which are more important than ever in the post season.Don't have the pass rush. Our run d is good. Our secondary will be deeper when Claiborne returns.

No team in the NFC is though.Any party who looks at our defense would NOT pick us to make the Super Bowl. I'm not saying we won't make it, we certainly can, but our team is just not well rounded.
This puts us in a position where our offense has to score on every drive because defensive stops are hard for this defense. In the playoffs, there is little margin for error in that regard. Our D doesn't have a pass rush, can't create turnovers (even when they're practically gift wrapped) and they routinely struggle to get offenses off the field in 3rd and long situations. Lost to the Dirty Birds in the NFC Championship game. I enjoyed that era of football!Didn't Minnesota go 15-1 an lose in the playoffs?
I agree. I hope JG will know the pulse of this team to handle all the scenarios to get this team ready for a run. I truly believe whether your top dog (in record/HFA) or just getting hot at the right time (December) there is a chemistry factor of how you handle your team coming into the playoff season. There are significant choices to be made in our position (whether to rest players, whether to run certain plays esp. when you playing another playoff contender before the playoffs, do we show certain defensive alignments before the playoffs...etc) I think JG now has enough experience and it will be a true testament to his growth as a HC to how far we go or how successful we are.We got wayyyy more respect in '07 at the height of our season (12-1). People were penciling us in the SB along with the Pats...
You know what, I'm fine with being the underdogs, let them keep doubting
Rookie QB.. Ok... But you have no evidence that it is hindering us in any way.
All the issues I just described were still prevalent with those guys playing. Yeah they'll no doubt be better when everyone is back in the lineup, but this defense has serious issues that aren't going to just go away this season.Again, we will get our best corner back in Claiborne. We played full strength last time in our secondary part of the Philly game when Claiborne got hurt and that was Scandricks coming back game. And he obviously is just now getting healthy (Scandrick).
Evidence? No. History? Yes.
No rookie has taken a team to the Super Bowl.
So I can understand the skepticism. Nevertheless, the test for Dak will be post-season play when the stakes are higher, the defenses get better, the game plans get more refined and the margin for error gets shorter.
I like what I see so far, but the playoffs are a different level of football.
Honestly, I think a case could be made for why every playoff team would get to the Super Bowl, or, conversely, why they wouldn't. With the defense we have, I can understand why there are doubters out there. Then again, every team is flawed. Personally, I like our chances.I've heard several radio guys who still don't think the Cowboys make it to the Super Bowl. Has there ever been any other team with a record like this not get a lot of respect?
But it does the job.
Their job is to keep point totals low and we are the 5th best in the league. We hold teams to 19 PPG per game.
Some of you don't get it. Jerry told everyone that Ezekiel Elliot was drafted to protect the defense. Has that plan failed? Uh no..
Possession of the football is a form of defense. Dallas is great at Possessing the football. You can't score without the football and when you do have the football you can't just depend on Field Goals.
Every team in this league has holes. We are just good at minimizing our weakness through allowing yards and not points and possessing the ball.
