Has to be said on bringing back Murray

Murray is not going to take a "Hometown Discount" IMVHO and really he shouldn't since this is most
likely his last bite of the apple. I wouldn't blame him for looking out for his future and family and taking
whatever best deal provides him with the most guaranteed money.

Why worry if he leaves....Todd Gurly or Melvin Gordon will most likely be there at 27 so be patient
and see what happens. Good things come to those who stand still and wait while Fools rush in.

Maybe because at 27 we could do a lot to help this defense out. I don't look for Murray to give the discount either but I also think a fair deal of around 6 mill a year could sway Murray to remain in Dallas so that Dallas can keep in tact this offensive unit and be able to address defense that is a must with top draft picks.

Of course a fair deal could be worked out, but I don't think Jerry is going to break the Cowboys budget number
for RB's after what happened that last time he overpaid a running back. History and statistics say you lose
by overpaying age in the RB category. Barber's epic fail broke us from sucking eggs on paying hard running RB's.

Exactly. There is no way, and I mean NO WAY, I want to go RB at 27. We need to go defensive heavy this draft especially the first 3-4 rounds.

That is my hope as well as far as Murray I have been consistent in my views on trying to keep him but also not breaking the bank on him. I don't feel what I have proposed is out of line with the NFL and what RB are getting paid and at 6 mill it would still put him below a lot of RB some I don't think are as good as him as an all around RB and what he brings to the table for this team. If all Murray wants is a big payday then I think he will be gone but based on comments by Murray I think he wants to remain in Dallas but it will have to be a fair deal not the lowball offered that was made in Oct.

Well my thoughts are that he is likely to get offers in the 8-9million per year range from someone and I don't think the Cowboys are
going to play in that arena. I would like to go defensive line at 27 too but I feel a RB coming along because our focus has
been on the offensive line and running the ball to win games. The defense will have to suck it up and play lights out like last
year with some mid-tier free agents to help. Get ready for Gurley or Gordon in Dallas my friends.

I never say never but do not expect the Cowboys to use a 1st on RB. If Murray is looking at big money only then chances are he is gone if as he said there are other things in consideration other than money then I think Dallas can get a deal done if it is a fair offer.

Hope springs eternal and maybe his linemates, Romo & Dez can put pressure on him to stay or Jerry to pay....
We're fixin to see, right???

I think guys like Romo and Garrett are pushing to get Murray signed. I think they like most also understand there are limits to what Dallas can do. I think you make a fair offer and put the ball in Murray court. As I said if he is willing to compromise some and the Cowboys are willing to up their Oct offer then there is a good chance of a deal getting done.

I think it would be a foolish rush to draft Gurly at #27. He will be coming off a major leg injury. I like Gurley, but I just don't like the idea of using a first on a guy who probably won't be available early in the season.

What if they sign multiple mid to upper tier free agents on defense?

We could have 40 million in cap room and this team is not going to spend big to sign Murray. Too much tread on the tires, a past injury history, an aging runner, and a lesson learned from the MB3 extension.

I'm not certain that they really want him back. The history of RBs that had his type of workload is not good in future years. Combine that with the fact that this is the first year he has played 16 games and it's a significant risk to sign him to a significant contract.

His yards gained before first contact is probably a stat that the Cowboys consider also because it points to the OL and passing threat as a big part of why he gained so many yards.

Based on their comments they appear to have pass rusher as the top need for 2015. If it comes down to signing a FA pass rusher or paying Murray 6M plus then I think they may go with the pass rusher and figure that it's easier to find a RB in the draft than a pass rusher that can make a significant difference in 2015.

That's my initial reaction also; although when I look back at 2009 I wish they would have drafted LeSean McCoy despite the fact that they already had Felix and Barber. If they believe that Gurly will be a superstar type player then they should probably go for it even if he has to miss the first half of 2015. The key is they have to believe that he is a genuine superstar and not just a really good player.

I don't know at this point if Gurley will return to the player he was before his knee injury. The games I saw him play in gave me a feeling
I was looking at a special player who could be a perfect fit addition in the Cowboys Offense. Now I don't know how long it will take
for him to fully recover but I would be willing to risk it if it means the next edition of Adrian Peterson is coming to Dallas. Murray is not a
bad RB but he only showed well this past year behind a championship built offensive line. Sometimes you just have to go with youth
and this might be one of those times.

What? You don't like the idea of using our top draft choice on a RB instead of our depleted defense so we can replace the leading rusher in the NFL with an unproven RB with a recent ACL tear? What's the problem here, this makes perfect sense!

As opposed to the genuine superstar they already have on the team. I've got a number -- 4 games. That's the over/under on how quickly the coaching staff loses this team when they realize they just gave away the best RB in the league for a dud. And I don't want to hear how this guy is a sure thing. What a joke.

Don't care. We have a lot of middle of the pack kind of guys on defense. Upgrading roster spots won't be hard. It would be nice to have above average starters AND a little quality depth.

We will find out. I think Garrett and Romo both want him back again I think it is not just the rushing it is everything he does. Some backs can't block worth a damn and I know BP and Jimmy would not put a back out there for many plays if they can't block. Everyone hear talks about rushing yet the position is more than running with the ball it entails a lot and Murray has shown he is very capable of it and is one of the best in the league. 6 mill is not over board, time and again I point to contracts of RB one by Lynch as of the other day and 6 mill is very fair deal.

This is the first season we emphasized the running game. If you want to say it's the first year he played in every game that would be the truth.
Other than that you can't say what I bolded with a straight face. Even with out it being a run team first, his average yards are about the same every year he's played.
