Hate to say it, but looks like Jeanty has a excellent chance to become a Cowboy!

Jeanty is the odds on favorite for our pick in my book. You know he reminds me of a current Cowboys practice squad player, Dalvin Cook, in his prime. I hope we get to see Jeanty against one of those SEC defenses in the playoffs in a few weeks.
I hope that Jeanty makes out of college football healthy.

Plus he is from a military family so your boy Belicheck would sign off on him.
He killed Oregon, would like to see that too!

If I had to bet he’s the pick…I just wouldn’t love it.
I wouldn’t love it either, but there is a little chance they are passing on a top 5 prospect outside the top 10 at a need position

If he is healthy it would be a good safe pick and they need to take another back with a later pick and take care of that backfield for a couple of years.

Probably the safest pick in the entire draft. Agree, makes sense to still add another in any scenario

Stephen doesn’t know what he’s saying. Same dude laughed at a reporter who asked about the idea of cap hell around the time Dallas signed Carr. Now cap limitations are all he can talk about and the team can’t fit $8M/year to get a Derrick Henry.
Stephen Jones not only doesn’t know what he’s saying, he doesn’t know what he’s doing either.

Well, they intentionally didn't use the money for Henry because they wanted to save it for 2025. We will see how that works out. Having Jeanty and the money to spend should help them in 2025.

The so called gomers seem to pick well most of the time. Those gomers are going to have a chance at some good players this time in the 10 to 12 range and in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

I really like Ashton Jeanty as a prospect, but not in this deep running back class. However, cannot ignore the facts:

-Dane believes Jeanty is the 2nd best player in this class after Travis Hunter. He is going to be the best player on their board, if he falls.
-Who desperately needs a running back ahead of us? Mel Kiper continues to say the only team that does, is the Dallas Cowboys
-Cowboys franchise has always had elite players at the position. Likes to take the top player at a position
-He is a local kid, which means huge money in merchandising
-Is that WOW player that would get the casual fan excited

It is very possible another team drafts him ahead of us as he is a legitimate blue chip prospect in a draft that lacks them, but he isn't going to get past the Cowboys if he falls. Their believe, he helps the run game, their OL, their QB and Defense.
Cowboys have had more success drafting some positions than others...

The concept of them drafting a DT in the 1st worries me considering their history of drafting DTs.

I think the probability of success is very high if they draft Jeanty.
- RB might not be the value pick, but a good/great RB is better than a bust at another position.
I would say trade down, but Jahmyr Gibbs was drafted at #12.
- Jeanty looks like more of a true everydown workhorse RB than Gibbs.

Style and body type remind me of Emmitt.
- He takes more direct hits than Emmitt, but that's true of most RBs that have ever played the game.

Balance through contact is the key ingredient for a great RB, in my opinion.
- Jeanty has great balance.

Lack of contact balance is a big reason that Darren McFadden was never as great as his measurables.
- He was big with incredible long speed, but far too often went down after first contact.

They have been awful drafting DT’s in general, running backs make the biggest immediate impact but their shelf life is usually 4-5 years.

With the class being so strong, no matter who they take 1st, makes sense to take another on day 3

There is no denying his talent, the question is how far is the drop off from the next backs in such a deep class

Jeanty is a playmaker. You cannot ever have enough of those.

It wouldn't be my favorite pick in the 1st (that'd be Graham, but Carter is growing on me. Two Micahs on the field at once would be ridiculous.), but you can't deny he's a game changer.

Would you rather spend your 1st round on a game changing RB, or a less talented, but "pretty good" prospect that is a position of need?
