Have we become so used to Jerry that anytime he does bare minimum we praise him?

I think fans are so desperate for a winner they are willing to believe anything about Jerry. Jerry did finally make some moves. He could have done them at anytime the past 30 years. All he's done through the years is Play Lucy dangling a football in front of the fans who is Charlie Brown. They Fall for it over and over again. That went right through the last 2 seasons where he sabotaged the team. He has everyone right where he wants them this year too. Everyone's talking about the Cowboys. Sure I believe the Cowboys will be better this year. I think they might even make the playoffs. Talking about the SB is another matter. I've seen the Cowboys look great in the regular season and just don't show up in the playoffs. It was only a few short years ago that I witnessed the worse Cowboy playoff game in my lifetime against GB. Some are willing to Forget all that. I'm not. Until they win a divisional playoff game they're the same Cowboys. Talk is cheap. Show me.

Genuinely curious, and this isnt to spark an angry debate.

This is a genuine question from someone that has seen this happen time and time again and wants to gauge why this happens here all the time.

Have we as a fanbase, become so used to Jerry and his family failing, that any time he does the BARE MINIMUM of his job description, we praise him for it?

Are we this conditioned by his terrible off-seasons that when he does literally the bare minimum of signing a guy on time or using FA the way everyone else does we celebrate it like we just won our 6th?

Why do fans who are justifiably upset and taking a wait and see approach ostracized so much on this site?

I am excited about the moves that were made, but I am cautiously optimistic mainly because I have 0 faith in the head coach of this team.

Can they prove me wrong, of course, and I will be the first to admit it, but can we stop praising people for showing up to work?
Sounds about right.

I want you to know I meant no disrespect
I used the wrong word and the wrong phrase
I was honestly curious, I’ve asked many people throughout the years why they remain loyal to an organization, and sometimes I don’t even know why I do, I guess I believe in the star, I guess I believe in Mr. cowboy
And I was hoping you could tell me the same thing maybe, again no disrespect was intended
"Loyal to the organization" is a long-winded phrase for...

FAN.

No disrespect or "slamming" intended. Not sure what's so hard to get about it.

"I'm loyal to the organization but I'm not a fan"
"Im a fan but not loyal to the organization".

NEither make any sense at all.

Remember that fan is short for fanatical. Not always logical or consistent or even sane...lol. it varies from person to person.

Yes it is. Thats what ANY competent GM does. That what you guys dont get lol.

Jerry did what any GM does. Yall acting like its some crazy new thing is what I am talking about.
It’s not though. Go look at what the Commandeds did this offseason or Giants or Eagles. And Howie is actually a great GM but compare their offseason and write it off as “competent”. Go look at the 9ers…you have a inflated view of what Gming is.

I’m sorry, I hurt your feelings, but I wasn’t talking about you lol have a good day

I have one last thing to say, and I hope you pay attention
He asked a serious question, and I took that as an opportunity to answer it, honestly
And I think that that’s what he asked
So I am returned to ask him the same question and expected an honest answer, and all I got was something derogatory
I am a fan because when I started watching football this team was winning, constantly. I was a child. My dads team, its the one thing in my life i connected with my father on, and still do. Basically the only thing we talk about because there is a lot of hatred there.

Should I switch teams? Or do you want to question my fandom some more?

What you did was question my fandom because I dont "fan" the way you do. Because I am tired of Jerry getting clapped for when he decided to pick up the phone instead of wait for calls. Like most GMs do.

Why dont you take your "im a better fan than you" attitude elsewhere. That goes for you to @TheMarathonContinues does that answer WHY i am still a fan?

Or do you want me to go deeper? Its not sensitivity, its why I backed away from this board, caution about this team after 30 years of failure is met with ridicule. Every. Single. Time.

I can't recall reading anyone really giving Jerry any kind of praise. There are many, me included, who recognize that there does seem to be a change in thinking over the last two seasons, but that recognition is still tempered with a heavy dose of 'let's see how it goes'.

Having that attitude is not necessarily giving credit to Jerry for changing his attitude and making moves. It could be simply giving Jerry credit for giving up the wheel and riding in the rumble seat instead.

Still way too early to tell where this ride ends but there is least the hint of the smell of change occasionally wafting through. I'd say that is at least a step up from the bare minimum we've grown accustomed to. Doesn't matter who gets the credit for it.

No. I just watch other teams. Not just the Cowboys.

I love how you are questioning 3 teams who have gone further than the Cowboys in the last decade, heck the last 3 years.

Giants hired Harbaugh whos in his first year, Eagles are rebuilding a bit after winning 2 SBs in the last decade, and the Commanders were in an NFCG 2 years ago.

LOL. Really?

Who the hell said I have a I’m a better fan then you attitude lol? I certainly don’t. I question how someone can be pessimistic 100 percent of the time and negative and still root for a team but I certainly don’t think I’m a better fan than the next person. You guys be pessimistic and negative and get asked why then get defensive. Stand on business it’s a safe space

Have a good day, you totally misunderstood what I was asking, but I can understand your anger
I explained why I was a fan, it’s the star what it represents, and that’s all I was asking,
But I can understand where the frustration comes from. Have a good day.

Oh you’re confused. I’m not saying Jerry is a good GM or that he’s been good. I’m saying he’s having a good offseason. What Giants did 15 years ago is irrelevant to 2026. I’m speaking about this year only.

You watch other teams. Ok me to. Your argument is Jerry did the bare minimum. Who went above and beyond the bare minimum? Who’s the teams or GMs?

I don’t know who started that true fan, fake fan stuff, but I accidentally mentioned it, and I got slammed, and I deserve it, I pride myself and not belittling or judging people
But I made a mistake because the phrase is so widely used by many here,
Apologies
That's alright. I just get sensitive when people talk about true fans.
