Head Coaches On The Hot Seat

Heard the Bears are too cheap too fire Lovie. Cable will walk the plank in Raidah town. Only question is who is stupid or desperate enough to take that job. I think Mangini is toast too.

I don't think Jerry wants to fire him. But as Jerry himself intimated he would like to see his worth manifested in some wins in the post season. To me, that means he is on the hot seat. Right or wrong, he is there.

Which Head Coaches do you think are likely to receive pink slips this year?

NFC East
1. Wade Phillips, Dallas Cowboys
2. Jim Zorn, Washington Commanders

NFC North
3. Lovie Smith, Chicago Bears

NFC South
4. Raheem Morris, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Yep after 1 year, no not fair.)

AFC East
5. Dick Jauron, Buffalo Bills

AFC North
6. Eric Mangini, Cleveland Browns

AFC South
7. Gary Kubiak, Houston Texans

AFC West
8. Tom Cable, Oakland Raiders (It's still Al Davis.)

Least likely is Gary Kubiak. I think he has something good going on over there in Houston, and it would be a mistake to make a change now, but you never know. The Bucs made a change from Dungy to Gruden when they seemingly couldn't turn a corner, despite winning seasons, and it worked out well for them.

Second least likely is Wade. I do think the Cowboys will win a playoff game this year, and Jerry exercises Wade's option for a 4th year.

Jim Zorn, Lovie Smith, and Raheem Morris are all gone.

What was telling about Jerry's quote was he said that he'd have to justify it to the fans. The reality is that the fans buy the tickets so he has to appease them even if it's the wrong football decision. So I don't blame Jerry. You can only blame the idiotic fans.

I don't blame the fans either. Reaching the playoffs is not enough. We need to win some post season games.

what did Herm Edwards ever accomplish? I could go around screaming idiotic things but that doesn't change the game,

He had a important pick as a secondary player for the jets. Beyond that he has set the Chiefs back 5 years in development with his lack of backbone and poor talent choices.

The Bills got permission to interview Chargers DC Ron Rivera. I like that one.

I kinda like what Perry Fewell is doing up there

plus I heard Weis is getting looked at also

So? I think you liked him early and late in the coaching carousel of the Cowboys. Does he bring more to the table than our current coach or did I miss something in the thread?

That is absolutely 100% absurd. Is reaching the playoffs enough to be happy about? No, of course not. But it's sure as hell sufficient not to fire the coaching staff even if he is kinda fat.

If Wade looked and talked like a drill sergeant he'd be the toast of the town right now. People would exclaim how we lead the NFC in scoring defense and wreak havoc on opposing QBs.

1-15 in 1989 and 7-9 in 1990.

I was thinking more about Jerry firing a guy that had just won the Super Bowl. Sorry I didn't clarify.

I agree with this. It's really about the fans. The guy has done a heck of a job coaching. No, he's not perfect, but who is?

He is the perfect and ideal coach.

I did like him back when we ended up with Wade. Good memory. It must offend you somehow to remember that and assume this.

The guy who said Jimmie Johnson never had a losing season.

Ah, my bad. Shoot me for not reading the whole thread. This one got going in a hurry.
