We have our differences my friend but I was not trying to start anything. Cowboys by 21 tomorrow. See ya in the chat room.
I probably just read it wrong man. Not the first time I have.

Chan Gailey didn't have one either.

Chan Gailey was an utter bonehead who had no business being an NFL HC. He likewise proved he had no business being a major college HC. Had he stayed another yr or two, the same 5-11 records we got with Campo, we'd have got with Gailey.

You were only laughing because you didn't understand it. I said if Wade were a drill sergeant he'd be loved. This means that a coach would have to have Wades defense and Wades record in addition to being a drill sergeant.

Parcells had neither so bringing him up is irrelevant.

Right now if you inserted a drill instructors persona into Wade (along with the body type) and he had the exact same record and history in the playoffs, I think he would be treated the same right now. If we had the season we had the media would have laid into him all season about how tough or overbearing he is and I'm sure the media would clamor all season about how we would need a players coach. The only thing that would appease the media and most of the fans are playoff wins.

I wasn't defending him. Merely stating fact.

That is absolutely 100% absurd. Is reaching the playoffs enough to be happy about? No, of course not. But it's sure as hell sufficient not to fire the coaching staff even if he is kinda fat.

Its not absurd if the owner and the front office people believe the coaching is whats keeping them advancing in the playoffs. I'm kinda like Hos, I think Jerry really wants to keep Wade, but if the team falls flat on its face in the postseason then he might re-think that.

I think he needs at least one win in the playoffs to stay.

And I will merely repeat again that Jerry himself said he would like to be rewarded with some post season wins. To me, that equals the hot seat.

I don't think it has anything to do with any other reason. What Wade looks like. How he sounds in PCs. What his zodiac sign is. Whether he puts 2% milk on his cold cereal.

It is about post season wins. Wade needs them to save his job. We cannot look bad or he will be gone.

Hypothetical question; Say we lose to the eagles tomorrow say by a last second field goal and then travel to wherever ARZ or MIN and lose on some last second music city miracle or hail mary type play. Does Wade come back? I think he does. Now, if we stink to high heaven and get blown out by the Eagles tomorrow and then mail it in the next week, I could see Jerry firing Wade.

I know he is on the hot seat. I never disagreed with you. I just thinks it's absurd. And you could tell in Jerrys voice he thinks so too but he accepts the reality.

I'd have to say no.

Maybe so. I just disagree. No one knows.

I agree, but only if it's possible to determine that coaching was really the problem. And I think Wade has shown enough coaching expertise that being able to make that determination is a pretty remote possibility.

I kinda doubt it. Jerry has pretty much said postseason success is the measuring stick. Losing another huge game (at home too) and then being one and done in the playoffs is not progress, not with the amount of talent this team has.

And again, Jerry doesnt have to fire Wade. Wade's contract is up.

If the team lays an egg these next 2 weeks Wade is gone. If they put in a good effort I think he will be back.

You are probably right, but I just can't see Jerry starting over with a new coach unless he promotes Jason, over a hard fought heartbreaking loss. Now, if the boys **** the bed, in the playoffs and look awful doing so, I have no doubt Wade will not be re-signed.

I do give him lots of credit though. He inherited a train wreck of a team that had three 5-11 seasons in a row...and even willed a Quincy Carter QB'd team to the playoffs.

Yeah, that's true. But like I said. I was happy to see him come and even happier to watch him go.

I could not have said this better. I still think there are times when Jerry wishes Wade were only the DC. That way he could force Wade on the next HC.

Which Head Coaches do you think are likely to receive pink slips this year?

NFC East
1. Wade Phillips, Dallas Cowboys
2. Jim Zorn, Washington Commanders

NFC North
3. Lovie Smith, Chicago Bears

NFC South
4. Raheem Morris, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Yep after 1 year, no not fair.)

AFC East
5. Dick Jauron, Buffalo Bills

AFC North
6. Eric Mangini, Cleveland Browns

AFC South
7. Gary Kubiak, Houston Texans

AFC West
8. Tom Cable, Oakland Raiders (It's still Al Davis.)

What about Tom Coughlin? After a 5-0 start, they stumbled pretty bad and played heartless in their last two games. That says something about the coach. They will probably keep him but he should be canned.
