Actually, the first time Dak broke his last two minute TD throw cherry to win was when he hit Cole Beasley in the back of the end zone against the Giants. Cole was initially ruled out but got that one knee down on the replay. Dak's 46th game.
Oh yeah I remember that why aren’t they counting that?

Gotta say... some of the takes in this thread went in a ton of diff directions I didn't expect.

If you take what Helman said at face value, it wasn't a shot at either QB.

It was simply a comparison in how both QBs can do crazy things in the game to put the team in position to even need to bounce back and win the game.

It wasn't a 1:1 games, talent, or accomplishments.

At least I thought so.
Sheesh WG, why do you have to bring reasoning and clarity into a perfectly idiotic argument :)p).

Unfortunately he plays like Tony Romo in the playoffs too ....... maybe that will change?
Tony played better in the playoffs than Dak by a country mile

The defense let him down like clockwork

I thought the same thing when Dak threw the red zone INT. I thought, "great, Dak is Tony Romo now."

Romo had a game like that here or there, but most of the time, he was rock solid for 4 quarters game in and game out. He had to outscore teams because of putrid Cowboys defenses most years.

And he did it against solid playoff teams.

That ain't Dak.

It was horrific at times last year.

The difference is, Romo would have been in that game the whole way. He kept up when it got like that. Dak gets buried.

Buffalo sucked in 2007. The Cowboys were heavily favored to win that game. This game was totally different. We were playing a 3-1 Steelers team and were underdogs and hardly anyone was picking us to win the game. We were a complete mash unit last night and still found a way to win. This was one of the most gutsy performances I’ve seen by the Cowboys in years. We’ll see if they can build off it. This was the most resilient performance I’ve seen by Dak.
LOL. Underdog. The spread was -2.5 Pittsburgh.

Hardly some big victory.

This wasn’t beating an undefeated Commanders team in 92 on the road or even beating a 13-0 future SB winning Saints team in their own house in 2009 (or whenever).

There you go again diminishing Romo and overrating Dak.

No, he didn't, and that was the result of horrible roster management. The great shame of this franchise is not supporting Romo like they did Aikman and Staubach, and even Dak a few years.

Outside of one game, Romo didn't get skulled in the playoffs like Dak. Romo made plays all over the place in those losses. He wasn't perfect, but he was in those games making big plays along the way.

Dak looks lost and confused in those situations. He plays like garbage with a huge deer-in-the-headlights expression. Completely outmatched and outclassed.

That didn't happen to Romo.

Dak haters won't like this but they're the exact same player, on the exact same types of teams, with the exact same Owner/GM who keeps them from having greater success.

And for those that want to mention playoffs (see below), it's the same thing, go look it up. Dak 2-5, Romo 2-4 record.

If you hate Dak or think he sucks, then you also have to hate Romo and think he sucks too. Anything else, you're a hypocrite.

Oh...that's even worse if he was talking about Romo. Romo was the proverbial see-saw...he was spectacular and tragic in one breath. As Troy said, "I don't put too much stock in 4th quarter comebacks because what were you doing the other 3 quarters?"
Seems like he forgot Captain Comeback. Wonder how much stock he put there. Not the greatest take from Troy. You can play your butt off for the whole game and still lose(Romo vs Manning in Denver for instance), or play your butt off the whole game but don’t win it until the last drive is over(Chiefs vs Bills a few years ago in the AFC championship game).

It doesn’t matter what the spread was we were underdogs on the road. That was a huge win for us. The only reason you’re diminishing it is because you’re one of those who hates Dak. You were probably hoping the team would lose. I can’t remember the Cowboys ever winning a game on the road where they were underdogs and had this many starting players out. We were a freaking mash unit last night and even lost a player who was replacing one of our injured starters. This isn’t about Dak versus Romo so don’t go there. The 2007 Bills were 1-3 while the Cowboys were 4-0. The 2007 Cowboys were arguably the best team we had since our last Super Bowl win. No one was picking the Bills to win that game and they almost pulled off the upset. We beat a solid 3-1 Steelers team last night despite all our injuries and our three turnovers. We even have field goal blocked. Try to enjoy the win and stop downplaying it because the QB you despise ended up being the hero.

"lead the NFL" is a contextual stat.

First, he has a kicker with a galactic range...that is not the QB.

Second, Dak put himself in the position to need that drive because he killed so many all by his poor play and decision-making.

You tried to change the subject ...and you could not live with your own failure...and where it bring you?

I was referring to Romo.

Romo only completed 58% of his passes against Buffalo in 2007 and had 5 INT‘s. His passer rating was only 49.9 and he was going up against a bad Buffalo team that had only won one game. The Cowboys on the other hand were 4-0 and had the best team they’ve had since their last Super Bowl win. All Romo had to do was put the Cowboys in position for a long field goal to win the game. Dak was playing for a mash unit last night. We had a whole list of players that were out with injuries and we even lost a player who was replacing one of our injured starters. Dak completed 69% of his passes for over 350 yards and had a 90.6 passer rating despite his two INT‘s. Except for those two picks he threw the ball very well last night. We had no choice but to score TD to win that game and Dak got it done despite being down to one do or die play.

I think he's referring to games like against the Broncos in 2013. He did that quite a bit. Not always.

Dak the Steeler killer.

He did it is 2016, well, Zeke was huge part of that.
Now he / they do it again. Though Dak a much bigger part this time than Zeke.
He also beat Aaron Rodgers in Lambeau Field. That’s a pretty big deal also

The one thing stats don't show, and the reason people are happy and surprised about last night's win is because Dak doesn't do this. On win, tie or lose final drives needing a TD, and actually getting one doesn't happen often with this team. We came to expect it from Romo.

Dak gets buried and Romo stays in the game the whole way? You must have forgotten some of Romo‘s games where we got destroyed and never came close to coming back. Did you forget the 44-6 debacle against Philly in 2008 that had the NFC East on the line? How about the 34-3 blowout loss to Minnesota in the playoffs? I can’t ever remember Romo bringing us back from a big deficit to give us a chance. Once we got down by a couple of scores, we were done with him. We got down by two scores to Green Bay in 2016 in the playoffs and Dak brought us back to tie that game only to have our defense choke with the game on the line.

Possibly the greatest comeback in franchise history occurred a few years ago when we got down 20-0 to Atlanta and Dak brought us back to win that game. We might have beaten Baltimore a couple of weeks ago after being way behind had our defense been able to make a stop in the end. Dak was bringing us back in that game. Once we got down by a couple of scores with Romo, we got buried. I’ll never forget the game where we had Detroit down something like 24-3 at halftime and Romo completely fell apart in the second half and Detroit won the game.
