The Commanders sacrifice tomorrow for winning today; last year it worked. But avoiding cap hell is what you guys are good at, but you can't do it forever. Arrington forced his release, Samuels is getting tired of restructuring, and Brunell will be a huge burden on the cap when he retires. The chickens are coming home to roost for your cap, eventually.

So I suppose its common practice on this board to allow homers to post opinion and call it fact?

Not even close, but Portis ain't build for blocking either. He won't last two more years carrying the ball as much as he has been. Maybe you guys need to draft a backup; oh wait, you can't.

Funny how both of you keep saying Portis isn't even close to the best blocking HB in the league, but nobody will create an actual list. I think your denying of CP is based more on homeristic Skin hatred than actual facts; but that's cool...whatever floats your boat, dude.

As for the homerism......Every board has it so you can't blame him.....

As for Portis....Are you NUTZ?!?!......he is an incredible blocking back......They ran highlights all the time showing how aggressively he takes out DE's and LB's........I thought for sure Sellers or Cooley would stay home to block but Portis was so much better than expected they each had 1/2 a dozen TD's.....

Very few times I have laughed out loud after reading something on a messageboard. Portis may have his faults but pass-blocking isn't one of them. Anyone who claims Portis is a bad pass-blocker has not one clue as to what he's talking about.

We don't need to draft a backup for Portis, by the way. We already have. Twice. Cartwright and Betts have both won games for us as starters, and have put up 100 yard games when given the oppourtunity. I'd be much more worried about the RB spot in Dallas if I were you. Honestly, I can't believe fans of a team that hasn't had a 1000 yard rusher since 2001 is giving greif to anyone about a running game, let alone Portis and his 1500 yards. Building through the draft is fine and all, but if your way continues to give you mediocre performers like Jones while our way gives us 1500 yard rushers like Portis ... perhaps you'd best pick another position to rag on. Just sayin.

The Commanders still need depth on both lines, LB and the secondary. If the offseason ends and these issues haven't been addressed, I'll be worried. But we've got a long way to go before training camp, and I think we're off to a good start in addressing many of our weaknesses from last year.
