The 80's & 90's ( until mid) is probably the era where hip hop was most diverse. The labels didn't feel like they knew more than the artist... so it was one of the most creative era's..... It was new..... It depends on what you are looking for. You can find gritty grimey crime, you can find high concept artistry, you can find political, and you can find pop.
I mean yea there's a lot of stuff I do like from that era. But the whole Public Enemy, NWA, Ice Cube, etc. scene never appealed to me.

wow no. The albums, the artists that came out in that decade are some of the best the genre has and will ever have. It set the foundation for how hip-hop has expanded to appeal to a wider audience. There is no way you can say Illmatic, Ready To Die, 36 Chambers, etc is just cool. Give me a break man. You gotta a lot to learn.
Those albums came out after the era I'm talking about. I'm referring to the late 80s early 90s. You're talking about mid 90s.

I said the decade of the 90s initially pay attention man I don't know how much more clearer that can get and none of those albums I mentioned are the mid 90s. Man you really don't know what you are talking about.

Illmatic - April 94
Ready to Die - September, 94
36 Chambers - November, 93

I would call that mid-90s.

LOL that isn't mid 90s. And again I mentioned the entire DECADE! as being the best. In the grand scheme what difference does it make when I am talking about the entire decade. You are the only one talking or making a big deal about mid 90s. So you are really griping about something that came out in 92 vs. something that came out in 93 and 94.

But there is even more than that... Casual from out west, Rakim, & Diamond D from the east, Crucial Conflict from the midwest, Outkast from the south, digable planets from everywhere... Even out in Europe they had a popping scene which had artist like Allience Ethnik, & MC Solaar... There was more freedom. If your willing to look, you will find some appealing artist..... hope you do, if not, I still wish you the best sonically.
