I actually woundn't mind if he was our second string next year (I can't believe I just said that). Someone who knows the system and was servicable under Parcells. 3rd string would be whomever we get in the draft.

I totally agree. Quincy did pretty decent for us. I know it wont happen, but if it does, and BP believes in 2nd chances for a guy, I wouldn't mind. It mostly probably depens on that, and his situation in terms of the failed drug test, if he has to sit out.

Bledsoew ill be gone. We'll be left with Baker, that's all.

If you're right about talent being the key, why is Andrew Walters a starting qb with Tony Banks,Jeff Blake sitting at home. What has Joey Harrington accomplished compared to those two. Why does Luke McCown or Josh McCown have a job? Where's their talent? Why did Chicago go with Hutch instead of Quincy last year, and why Kyle Orton. Chicago had the lowest rated offense last year, despite a stellar defense. The NFL has a credibilty problem when it comes to the qb position. That's the only position that they can't seem to figure out. Maybe they need to take their blinders off.
"Figure out..." You mean the NFL is racist?? Because the only connections I see between all the starting QBs you mentioned and the ones who aren't starting is that the starters are white and the nonstarters are black.

So a league that is 75% black is racist??:laugh2: I guess the NBA is racist too because there are a few white players.

No.

In 2002 he was benched because of his attitude. His level of play contributed, but wasn't the whole story. He stabbed teammates in the back in meetings, all kinds of stuff. I can tell you the whole story if you wish and I got it right from the mouth of a player on the team at the time.

He asked for all kinds of meetings with Jerry and got all paranoid over the signing of Hutch. He hated any time he felt like there was competition.

In 2003 he got his act together and got a shot to start and beat Hutch out. Once he knew the team was his again he started having attitude problems again. Parcells does not put up with that. When the Cowboys started looking at Henson in February of 2004 Carter flipped his lid again. Demanding meetings with Jerry. Paranoid.

By March, the Cowboys had signed Henson and Carter was back to his old self destructive ways. The same source who told me we were going to land Henson for a 3rd round pick told me the Cowboys were going to sign either Warner or Vinny in the off season and that Q's only way to stay on the team was to play lights out at TC and be the undisputed top guy. he didn't do that. More paranoia.

Under the conditions of the CBA Jerry cannot tell Parcells when a player has failed a drug test. Waiving Q was Parcells call. 100%.

True story.

I wasn't at this board when any of this happened - so I never heard any of this. I would be interested in hearing about some of the things he would do, if you would have the time to share or even link old threads it was mentioned, or even send me a PM. I will trust that you had a source of this news - there are plenty of folk here who have sources, so I'm not questioning that.

But, that is what I was basing my opinion off of - I suppose I understand if he was cut because of behind the scenes stuff like disruptive behavior and what not - I remember that during that TC he was very good with the media, and I couldn't see him being cut based on the 2003 season's play alone, even if it was sub par.

I don't see any reason for you to make that stuff up, though, so I can't not believe it. Pretty sad if true. I never really cared for JJ's signing of Hutch, because I saw no point in it and didn't think it was good for the team or Carter, but that doesn't excuse Carter from any distracting he might have caused.

Oh well, in the past I suppose.

There's a heck of a difference between Coleman, a S/CB, getting suspended and a QB in the NFL. Teams invest too much money/time/effort in QB and their importance on the team and necessity of other players being able to rely on the QB transcends all other positions. No owner will knowing sign a QB who was suspended for drugs/steriods unless he's destined for the HOF. Somebody may sign Quincy, but as a backup not starter & frankly since it was Dallas where he got suspended, no way will JJ bring him back here.

When was Quincy suspended? Not. You don't here a peep about Quincy getting into any kind of trouble. We didn't know when he was on the team that he had any trouble with drugs and Bill and Jerry didn't have to tell the NFL, in fact, they weren't supposed to be conducting their own test, which is a league violation. This was a setup to get Quincy off the team by Jerry, because he wasn't marketable enough and they mistakenly thought Henson was going to be the real deal. I said from the start that Henson would fail, just like Hutch. Logic should you tell you that you can't go from not playing football for 3 or more years and then come back and compete with guys who've been playing the whole time.

How many years between HS and college did Quincy leave to play baseball?:laugh2:

So the illegal drug test was a set up?? How's that??

Did they plant drugs in Q's dorm room and make him use them? They tested him and he failed. Whether or not it was legal is irrelevant. The NFL doesn't want it's players using drugs, and Q was using drugs... case closed.

Quincy just admitted he smoked marijuana. He lost 4 game checks. The next step would have been a suspension. Did Jerry really test Quincy? That is still speculation.

The thing I don't get is, Cleo Lemon and DJ Shockley have jobs, but noone bellyaches about freaking jeff George not being in the league. Hell, Andrew Walter, a guy kartr has a problem with having a starting job in the league, is second fiddle to Aaron Brooks, a black QB who is HORRIBLE, much worse than Quincy ever was. Joey Harrington is a backup to another black QB who turns the ball over at an alarming rate, and takes more sacks than Drew Bledsoe.

But kartr has no problem with that. There's some word that describes that kind of a stance.

Not to mention Donovan McNabb, Steve McNair, and Michael Vick who also start ahead of white backups... Surprised these guys can see the field with the NFL being so racist.

Go with McNair. He goes out with injury, Boller comes in, and the team performs better on offense. Boller's QB rating is higher than McNair's. He should be starting.

Walters is a starting QB because the Raiders haven't given up on him yet.

Banks and Blake aren't because they are washed up.

The McCown brothers are Cowboys fans and they play tough football.

Chicago went with Hutch because he was avialable.

There's no NFL credibility problem, you have the credibility problem. It's completely gone. That's the problem.

As much as we try to distance ourselves from Carter, I am grateful to him for the following reasons

- He led our team to the playoffs
- He led many a 4th quarter comeback wins
- He won when I went to see the Cowboys play, (miracle comeback against Carolina)
- He was the first one to beat the Eagles when they had our number
- He never lost to the Commanders.

That being said, I don't want him on the team now, but I wish him the best of luck in the future.

You forgot, he was 3-1 against the Giants, including 2 of 3 victories against Kerry Collins, 1 victory over Steve McNair, 1 over Jeff Garcia, 1 over Kurt Warner. If not pissing off the Q-Haters on this board is more important than winning football games, maybe you're right.

The problem with Quincy Carter threads is they rehash the EXACT same ground over and over again. The arguments are all tired. No one changes their opinion. Out of all the discussions that oocur on this forum, these are the most futile.

And because of injury. Persecution complexes make you blind to nuances like facts and sequences of events, though.

No, I didn't hear drug rumblings from VR. I did hear them from fans at times, including from people who reported he did coke at Georgia and one of his biggest fans met some people in Iraq who said the same. The son of the owner of the comapny I work for played all star baseball with him and swears to me he was a coke head.

All of that is 3rd party and I don't push it. Never have.

I have an occasional good source at VR. A couple of things haven't worked out, but for the most part, I can't complain. As I said, I knew in March he was going to be gone unless he "lit it up in TC." Excuse the pun. I even said as much to one poster on this forum via PMs. Up to that person if he wants to verify my claims or not.

Do you really buy that he was waived for a failed mj test? Come on.
I don't doubt you have sources... i do however doubt if they really know the facts or what they are lead to believe. Let me clarify.

Your info might have been nothing but a test for Q and head games by Tuna.

Vinnie was gonna be brought in as backup (some such as yourself might say starter) at least. We all know that. I do believe Tuna was using this "vinny to start" as a motivator to see if QC crumbled or not and was worth the time to continue with. He's a master motivator and NOTHING he does is random. "Vinny to start" was sorta true.. he'd be starting at least 4 games (while QC was suspended). I know he used some press leaks to pressure and evaluate Quincy - notably Francessa at WFAN who has zero insight to the cowboys - so him constantly reffering to Vinny starting was staged and leaked purposefully. Clear as day.

Again if QC was not going to be suspended and didin't violate the drug policy i have NO DOUBT he'd have started (short leash perhaps) and Vinny backup. No way he'd have been cut. I also believe (by the wording upon release) that QC had a verbal arrangement of sorts with Jerruh and/or Tuna about drugs (after first violation) and his failed test as the broken agreement. Cut. Everything about the cut was absurd, most notably the timing.

I find it hard to believe ANYONE even even minimally informed about Vinny's quarterback play would think VINNY would have been more effective than Quincy (in his second year w/ Tuna).

I wasn't aware that mental weaklings get their teams to bowl games every year and the playoffs when they play the whole season. You are pathetic. Carter only left Georgia because he was overage and worried about starting a new system under Richt, plus all his best players had left too.

Lies.

Carter left UGA for a number of reasons:

1. He narrowly escaped trouble when his teammates took the fall of him after the cocaine bust. But QC was still facing drug tests.
2. The new coach--like EVERY ONE IN ATHENS--knew that QC was "with" the guys when the cocaine bust occurred.
3. Richt wasn't going to start QC his senior year. He was going to start David Greene and even said as much in the school paper. Richt thought Greene... a FRESHMAN... had more talent than QC and Richt didn't want to risk QC getting suspended in the middle of the season because of drugs since the NCAA was doing drug tests on QC.

QC went pro because he was going to get benched.

Lucky for him, JJ made his worst decision ever and took QC. So, although QC wasn't going to start for UGA, he ended up starting for the Cowboys.

Ask yourselves this simple question:
Why does QC always need to specify that it is not cocaine? Why does he not have to say "I never did crack" or "I never did heroin." Why? Because there has been knowledge since his UGA days that he was a cokehead. He always fall back on "no one has ever proved I used cocaine." Right. But no one ever proved he used crack either. But he isn't accused of using crack. He is accused of cocaine. And there is a reason for it: everyone knew he was a cokehead at UGA.

It is because they all adore white people and hate black people.

Especially Chicago and Oakland, who both have black coaches.

I hope quincy finds a team to give him a chance
granted he made mistakes, but you can't say he was the only one
it seems he is over his problems now.

I cant understand how some of you bash him for his "smarts", thats something he has no control over. Like him or not, at least make fun of him for what he did, not who he is.

best of luck quincy
everyone deserves a second chance

QC led the 2003 Cowboys to the playoffs.

If QC had been the qb for 2004, we probably wouldn't have gone 6-10.
