I am disappointed by the pick for philosophical reasons. We've been touting the fact that our OL allows us to have success with a mid-level RB. The general trend (a successful one) in the NFL is de-valuing the RB position. Up until a little while ago, Elliot was the best RB in the draft, but not a "generational" typeback -- especially when compared to next years class. We had opportunities to move back to 6 (apparently) and gain an additional high pick and still get a player like Buckner, of even Zeke is that scenario is to be believed.
I'm more against the idea of drafting any RB at 4 than I am against Elliot specifically though. I feel like we wasted an opportunity with a pick so high. I don't see the difference between a back like Morris gaining 1,200 yards and Elliot gaining 1,400 and don't feel that the number 4 pick in the draft going to a RB who would be incrementally better is a wise move. I will pull for him and will eventually get used to it.
That being said, having many Dlineman fall to 34 is is very intriguing and Spence/Dodd would make me feel better. If we pick a QB in the 2nd, I will be steamed.
