Honest response

It's called admitting to your mistake. It's the same reason they try to get Murray back before he went to the Titans.

Yup..... Taking Zeke was the ultimate admission of guilt but I forgive them. Great move!

Now.. I guarantee you there will be multiple people on the board STILL arguing that Dallas made no mistakes with Murray. Bitter til the very end... The reality of it all is just as I said a year ago, we were so close with Demarco in place and then suddenly so far away when we failed to negotiate. Anyway, that's all water under the bridge now baby! I just hope it's not too late for Romo's window.

Very happy with the pick. I didn't think they'd have the balls to pass on Ramsey.

I would have been just as happy with Ramsey, but Zeke was my pick.

I am disappointed by the pick for philosophical reasons. We've been touting the fact that our OL allows us to have success with a mid-level RB. The general trend (a successful one) in the NFL is de-valuing the RB position. Up until a little while ago, Elliot was the best RB in the draft, but not a "generational" typeback -- especially when compared to next years class. We had opportunities to move back to 6 (apparently) and gain an additional high pick and still get a player like Buckner, of even Zeke is that scenario is to be believed.

I'm more against the idea of drafting any RB at 4 than I am against Elliot specifically though. I feel like we wasted an opportunity with a pick so high. I don't see the difference between a back like Morris gaining 1,200 yards and Elliot gaining 1,400 and don't feel that the number 4 pick in the draft going to a RB who would be incrementally better is a wise move. I will pull for him and will eventually get used to it.

That being said, having many Dlineman fall to 34 is is very intriguing and Spence/Dodd would make me feel better. If we pick a QB in the 2nd, I will be steamed.

According to the Jones' in their press conference, they were offered a trade down (presumably by the Ravens), and the Ravens told them that they were going to take Elliott.

Jerry also said that Elliott was the top rated player on their board.

If Zeke was the top payer on their board you wonder why we where hearing reports that the scouts where resisting the pick.

Sounds like revisionist history to me.

You also heard reports that Ramsey was the guy.

The reports were false.

Honest response? I wanted Ramsey to don the star...but, he, like all of the others wasn't perfect...I felt/still feel like he has potential to be special and the best player from the draft...but, now that Zeke is a Cowboy, I am happy (content)...the run game will be improved once he gets the starting gig, and the guy can block, so tony will be a little better protected...but, if the defense isn't addressed now, then the offense will need to have TOP around 40+ per game and outscore the opponent to have a chance at a winning record...the 50 SB winners rarely just out-scored their opponents week after week, they played a little D as well

I didn't want EE. Not saying I didn't like him, or think he is a bad fit for us.

Just thought with our O-line, a healthy Romo and Dez, the RBBC could of been good enough.

That being said, he should be an excellent player for us.

Even if Ramsey became a safety, I still think he would be a very good one. something we haven't had since Woodson/Early Roy.

I didn't realize the draft is over:rolleyes:

Don't we have like 8 more picks?

If we stay at 34 we'll add a guy with a first round grade. Jack, Dodd, Reed, Spence, Ragland. All of these guys are first round talents and would quickly become one of the foundation pieces on our defense.

When they asked Bill Polian what one impact player he would pick in this draft he said Elliot. That's my one consolation. I don't think he gets us closer to a Super Bowl but he may help us win some games.

How does he not get you closer to a Super Bowl if he helps you win more games?

Jarran Reed is a Haloti Ngata type of disrupter in the middle of the defensive line. You just can't move the guy. He's nasty too. He'd be one of the leaders of our defense going forward.

I just hope it isn't a one player draft. Which has been the criticism of the Cowboys over the years. Even during this recent stretch of getting the first pick very right you don't find much after.

Let's see what they do today. No reason why you shouldn't get two more productive players and if you stay at 34 that player should be a first round talent.

Then let's see day 3. Find a couple of gems with those 7 picks.

Only then will you be able to call it a successful draft.

Winning more games in the regular season doesn't mean you are closer to the SB. A lot of teams are one and done in the playoffs just ask the Bengals. Defenses are better in the playoffs. When I watched the Patriots offense in the regular season it didn't even seem like anyone could slow them down. They seemed to just take what was given to them and march down the field. The Broncos made them look silly in the play-offs.

Although I disagree and feel Elliott could be generational in Dallas meaning Dorsett, Smith, Elliott, I respect your opinion and reasons for it. I'm with you on Spence. He got his degree (3.6 GPA), he has sent his last 20 drug tests to all teams and he seems pretty self aware and mature. I know we're in no position to take chances on questionable played but there are degrees and i feel he a this moment is a much safer pick than Gregory was last year.

May I please defer my group hug?

Loved the pick but felt the Cowboys could have gained better value by trading down a few slots.

They could have used the extra pick to sweeten an offer that would have trumped the Broncos and gotten us Lynch.

The combo that I wanted was Ramsey and Henry, which it looks like we may have been able to pull off, but I can't complain at all if we end up with something like Elliott and Dodd or Elliott and Ragland or something similar.
