'Horns in Trouble

LSUFreek made it...Not I.

Just seen it on the Big 12 section of the WVU board.

Well, the message isn't far off --
There is a new sheriff in town, and upon initial evaluation, some would say he is not what was expected.

UCLA is highly overrated and it will be a de facto home game for UT, so I wouldn't be surprised to see UT win the day and redeem some morale going into Big 12 play.

They may be overrated, but they are still better than BYU. The Cougars destroyed Texas in an actual home, so a de facto home game should not be a factor.

Funny thing is...I was looking for a game to switch back and forth from while watching the WVU game and when I would switch (early on) to the Texas vs BYU game it was kind of close and low score so I just stuck with the WVU game. Now I wish I had watched a little more of it.
Saw the score this morning and was shocked.

Do these schools get a bigger paycheck or something playing at JerryWorld rather than on their own fields?

I get bowl games but why games now?

Yes, and broader exposure. Baylor and texas tech play annually at Jerry World for the same reason, as was the rationale behind the FSU Ok St opener.

Strong put a sign on the wall showing the stats of last year's BYU game hoping someone would have the balls to tear it down. No one did.

"It's an embarrassment," Strong said. "It's an embarrassment to this program, it's an embarrassment to this university. I knew it and I didn't do anything about it. I take responsibility and all the blame for this loss. I knew during warmups we weren't ready to play.

"Just the whole demeanor; how they took the field and just how they carried themselves. You can notice it. I told them before we ever went out. I said we're not ready to play."

Iz tried to be nice to distraught Horn fans.

Much like how Parcells could only do so much to get existing Cowboy players in sync with his methods and ideology of football, there will be limits to Strong's mindset and control as well.

Again, not a UT fan but I love Strong. Saw his postgame press conference and he was legitimately and honestly angry and disgusted at the way his team performed. It wasn't an act for the cameras, just his raw feeling. Wish the Cowboys had that.

This may be a rough year for him, but I bet he gets them on the right track shortly. For one, he needs a QB. Right now he doesn't even have a competent one, much less a good one.

Also... If I'm the Big 12 I'm inviting BYU to the conference yesterday.

I agree Lab. I've bought into Strong and for better or worse, I'm going to support him (which means, I'm going to watch games no matter how hard it is this year) and see what happens. I think he's going to right the ship.

I also agree on BYU. The problem is that the Big 12 kinda likes how it is now with every team playing each other. If you Bring in BYU, you probably have to bring in somebody else and that's going to create scheduling issues. On the other hand, would be nice if the Big 12 actually had 12 teams so yeah. JMO.

I saw that. He was so angry. And he looks like maybe the kind of guy you don't want to anger.

If Swoopes would have been at a 5a school instead of 2a there's no way he would have been a dual threat QB. lol
