How bad are we going to be?

4-12. I have this pegged as a disaster year. Not because I don't believe in the team or want them to win, but I have had this gut feeling since Sean Lee went down.

Sean lee would half missed crucial tackles and lost an extra game for us.
Let us give up the ghost on his specialness. He aint special. He's just an injured player who half more money than Chris Kattan.. . . oh, his career took a nosedive. OK. he half more money than Little Bow Wow. but with none of the charm and intelectuelism.

So these are "facts" now?

Yes. Have you seen a league wide trend of 2nd and 3rd year players who were high round draft picks getting worse?

And this is somehow good news? That we "should" get contributions for at least half a season? Do you see how low this bar is?

Last season we played a half dozen guys signed off the street the week before on our DLine. We would have loved to have had 80% healthy Spencer and Melton last year and its a low bar, but it would also have been an improvement over guys like Frank Kearse and Jarius Wynn.

Or they could be what they have been...

Claiborne playing at half his talent level is still better than what BW Webb gave us next year. At 90% of his talent level he is an above average CB.

And I would have signed up as Buttercup Daffodil but it was already taken! j/k...

Also "funny" how the sunshine & flowers group think the team will get better with NOTHING in the way of facts to back that up...

I guess we'll just have to wait and see. In the meantime, have a lollipop, smell the flowers and enjoy the sunshine.:D

Funny how the doom & gloomers say we lost our 3 best defenders which I'm assuming includes Ware, but at the end of last season were saying Ware's lost it, he's done, let him go. So losing a guy that is supposedly done is going to make the defense worse? o_O
And for the record: I say 10-6.

And funny how a horrible defense that lost a number of starters to defections and injury is expected to help us get to . . . 10-6? I think you meant 6-10, but hey, you are an optomist, always seeing the liqer bottle as half full.

Ware is clearly on the decline, but even a declining Ware is better than what we currently have on D.

So we lost Ware and Hatcher, and the guys brought in to replace them haven't been able to play a down in the preseason. That is scary.

Not to mention a suspended Scandrick, Lee out for the season, Mo Claiborne who can't stay healthy, Spencer is a huge question mark and our non-existent depth along the OL, and things get a bit scary.

To top it off, the last 6 games of the schedule, as usual, is a nightmare. 4/6 on the road, 2 games in 5 days, etc..

Anything is possible, but we need things to go our way for once. The defense needs to get healthy and stay that way, and Lawrence/Melton/R. McClain need to make a big impact. The OL has to protect Romo at all costs.
Pretty much can't argue with any of that. 1st 6 games will determine if this team has any fight in them.

Show me how this means it's any sort of "fact" that it happens here?

We also had a future Hall of Famer in Demarcus Ware and a Pro Bowl performance from Jason Hatcher. And now this roster has zero players capable of replacing either.

And now you're trying to tout contributions from one player trying to return from ACL surgery and the other from microfracture surgery! Looks like the definition of desperation.

That looks like hyperbole and opinion. I don't see anything in the way of facts to back it up that Claiborne has or ever will play at that level in the NFL. To say nothing of him actually staying healthy enough to be on the field.

What about Tip-toe Tulip?

:p

Glad we can disagree and still keep it light!

I have no idea what the record will be, but I do think by week 8 one of the main topics of conversation will be the upcoming top 5 draft pick and the possibility of getting the 1st pick. The other main topic on the board will be who will Jerry be able to bring in as head coach to right the ship.

At 33 second into the song, that is my former linebackers coach, the blonde guy looking amazed that Leslie Gore was on board. He became a preacher later but succumbed to . . . issues of the flesh.

I would half liked to shake their hands. You are right about doom and gloom. Sometimes, like when the food lady bring cheese sandwiches I tell her to bring me something better next time and she smiles and say: "a nice mans like you, who can resist?" I like her bright personality. And the meat sandwhiches she bring next time.
You half inspired me to look on the bright side of things more often.
Thx for beink in my circle of friends.:)

also, lets reach out to stasharoo to turn that frown upside down into a smile! He is cool, you will see.

Its a fact that good players are likely to improve over their rookie years. Its a fact that Fred and TWill are good players. That improvement isn't certain but its likely. I don't see how someone can claim that likelihood isn't a fact.

This is the "no win" darksider argument. Ware was a shell of his former self last year but you post about him as a "future Hall of Famer" as if we had the 20 sack version of him last year. Meanwhile Spencer and Melton are former All Pro's likely to play half the season or more but you are assuming we get nothing from them.

Again, I'm talking about this team's train-wreck of a defense.

And yet the 'Shell of his former self' is still world's better than anything the Cowboys can point to as a replacement. There's a fact for ya!

Meanwhile Spencer and Melton are former All Pro's likely to play half the season or more but you are assuming we get nothing from them.

Meanwhile, you're pointing to two guys who made it to one Pro Bowl each in 2012, trying to return from major surgeries for key contributions.

I think it's sad that the team - or anyone - is forced to look toward injured and unproven players to bail out the worst defense in team history, after said defense has lost its' three best players.

Again, I'm talking about this team's train-wreck of a defense.

On defense we are going to have better overall depth at DB and DL. We won't have glaring holes to attack last year like FS and 3rd CB. We will have a better approach with DL using Marinelli's wave attack. Our LBs will be worse.

But the biggest improvement for the defense is that the offense will be on the field longer to keep the defense off the field (and from being exposed as much as last year).

We're going to be 7-9, 8-8 bad.....which.....is not bad.......it's average............again..........
