And you also stated with confidence that they'd be in the 10 range, did you not?

So how is a bet at 5 fair?

Splitting the difference at say 7 seems more fair, don't you think?

I stated that I think they'll be in the 8-10 win range. Get it right.

And YOU quoted ME in this thread. You said that my statements were based on "fandom" and not "facts". You didn't hesitate to try and pick my original post apart but now you're quickly backing off of your 5 win claim. What gives? Not so confident in your "facts" all the sudden?

Strange. And confusing.

Speaking of our owner, I think he is entering senility. Not to be harsh, but I expect decisions to get worse from here on out. I think Jerry as to the point where he is ok with losing, as long as the franchise becomes more valuable. Hes happy with his investment. But all the testosterone and vitality that led to those 90s championships, that is all gone now.

You wouldnt know that by looking at the misrepresented pictures

Put me down for 3-13.
I'm expecting defensive records in futility to be broken....

Please.

You're going to attempt to bait me into a one-sided bet which requires only one of us to back up our claims?

I don't think so.

You want to make a fair bet? Fine.

You want one where only one of us assumes risk?

Find another sucker.

I can't see more than 5 wins. The defense is abysmal. With the way the rules are going, you need a dominate pass rush now more than ever. They basically are relying on a rookie from Boise St with a broken foot to provide it.

The offense has some things to like, but the o-line like most things involving the Cowboys is overrated. Yes, Smith is a very good LT, Fred seems like an anchor, and Martin is likely to be good, but Doug Free is a one decent year, one horrible year player and Leary or Mac just JAGs. Let's hold off on the anointing oil. QB is 34 with 2 back surgeries.

Combine that with a front office that lacks any direction or forward thinking and you have continued mediocrity.

Doesn't mean I'm not a fan or won't watch, but this team has been a disappointment for the overwhelming majority of the last 20 years.

Let us not beat around the bush here. We have been a mediocre team that has regressed while most of the league has gotten better. Even if you are just standing still, the rest of the league will pass you by. And we have been going backwards.

So, how bad are we going to be? I think 4 to 5 wins tops. I think the team will play hard for the coach. I think Romo is past his prime, can't move like he once did and is no longer a top tier quarterback. I think the defense will be horrible, albiet probably not as statistically as bad as last year, because the offense wont force our opponents to attack us as much to beat us.

I think Garrett is gone after this year. I think our scouting department, however, is one of our real weaknesses, but our owner continues to trust the same old geezers hes had for 100 years.

Stephen is a muppet of his father, so I don't see much changing there. Even when Jerry passes, Stephen will run the team in the same, "owner knows best," philosophy.

I know this thread seems harsh. But, Im not complaining actually. I am also not going to stop being a fan. I am just resolved to the fact that there is a decent chance the Cowboys won't win another championship in the next 20 years. Seriously.

Thanks for such an upbeat post.

Couldn't have said it better myself. It's sad but all true. This is a 5 win football team. You will see plenty of quitting going on this year. It will be like 2010 all over again.

Sounds like many fans, the "realists" already quit.

Anyone paying attention knows we are screwed this year. Still have to play the games but it's painfully clear we have a bad team right now. Luckily the rest of the NFC looks bad too with the exception of the Eagles.

I'm going to take back the 3-13 that I originally posted and go with a more positive prediction. Most of the NFC East looks below average (Philly decent) and SF probably has had the worst Preseason in the NFL (talent vs expectations). Couple of bounces go the Cows way and I can see 5-11 / 6-10.

I was going to put something pithy here but realize I need not.

Whatever record nets you a top 10 pick in the draft is what we'll have. I want to say top five pick because of the defense, but I'll play it safe for now. I can easily see this team sitting at 2-4 or 1-5 after the first 6 games.

6-10. Hard to stray from 8-8 with this team, but at some point the players have to stop playing for a clueless coach no matter how much they "like him as a friend".

What does that mean exactly? How did someone who posts here "quit?" I didn't know some folks here played for the Cowboys.

LOL, not sure if you are serious or not, do you really think that's what I meant...

Let me clarify....quit on the season as to having any chance of winning.
Is that understandable?
