Well Jerry could turn to his circle of friends and hire Dave Shula or Ernie Z or maybe even the stellar "No Play for 4th and 1" Bruce Coslet as the OC.....

Maybe that is the problem you dont hire a Head Coach to "fix" one side of the ball, you hire then to coach the team. Wade is not capable of doing that. That has been obvious from day one.

Funny... Jerry is the one that made Garrett Assistant Head Coach... Wade has only been sole head coach one season..

I think Jerry Jones hasn't offered Wade Phillips a contract extension because he wants to see how the team responds early next year.

I have never really seen Jerry Jones so adamant about keeping a Head Coach around and then scrapping him a month later.

You guys maybe right, but I just wouldn't be suprised if Wade Phillips is back next year.

I really wouldnt.

Also, Jerry Jones felt that Tony Sporano and Jason Garrett were strong enough to man the Offensive duties, but needed a really good defensive mind to fix the underachieving defense. I think Jerry Jones knew Tony Sporano would end up leaving, but I think he counted on Jason Garrett being able to pickup the slack the following season and he felt with the Offensive weapons on Offense, that the transition would be alot easier.

Regardless, I didn't like the Wade Phillips signing but there are definately more problems on this team than just Wade Phillips.

What would make me even happier:
1) Jerry Jones stating that he will get tougher and give up some of his control
2) Terrell Owens being shown the door

Wades gone, the continuity just isn't there....he's losing soldiers left and right, to bring in fresh blood with him at the HELM would be suicidal for the Cowboys...Wade will be gone within a span of 2 weeks...Stay tuned for more :)

Mike Shannahan = head coach
Dom Capers = Defensive Coordinator
John "Chucky" Gruden = Offensive coordinator
Mike Solaris = Offensive line coach

Any remaining position coaches that need to be filled would be up to Capers for defense, Shannahan and Gruden for offense.

Keep in mind that Jerry has to sell out that big house next season. I don't think Sherm and Campblow will make people reach for their wallets.

Well, it's not like there is going to be much continuity anyway...

I know one thing. Ed Werder is pissed because he couldn't break this news. He's covering the Pittsburgh game this weekend and isn't in Tx.

I think Gruden ends up in KC as HC

I agree with the OP. How does Wade rebuild the offensive staff with one year left on his contract, coming off a 9-7 campaign?

Just isn't realistic. There is not one remaining guy on the staff to develop Romo and no one worth their salt is coming to Dallas under Wade.

JJ has to make fire Wade.

I called for Solari over Houck last year -- he'd be sliding into OC right now had we gone that way (and I think that Wade actually wanted to go that way).

Gruden is getting a HC job - he's a HC and one of the really good ones. I'd love him here but his firing might push SD to make a move. Similarly, Jets with Gruden and Favre? Wow. Back to Oakland even is a reality (he handled Davis really well).

Capers will be with Garrett in St Louis and will get a very nice contract.

Shanny as HC? I like that. But Gruden would make me happy as well. Honestly, both of those guys would be a good fit with offense.

But.... here is what I think is the reality. (I don't like it, it just is what it is).

Campo becomes our DC. He's a good DC just not the one we need.

If SD makes a move then our new OC is our old OC. Norv comes back.

I will again say this. If Jerry wanted JG as his head coach 2 years ago, he should have made him the leader and surrounded him with a ton of experience at the coordinator level.

I agree on Gruden he'll land in NY or KC.

here is an idea.

Since we have the young brett favre...

Why not hire

Mike holmgren, jon Gruden and steve mariucci. Mariucci has all the answers on tv and gruden screams alot.

Dick jauron will probably get shown the door during next season some time, maybe after the season though, he can come join too.

THen jerry can bring ron wolfe back as a consultant.

All we would need is a snow machine and romo to get a vicodin problem and we would be the packers of the 90s.

or

Jerry Jones ego will do the hiring as always and we will have people like wade phillips, dave campo, ray sherman and my guess of jim fassel and who knows maybe wades old dc from buffalo too, ted cottrell. And we will promptly get our face kicked in each divisonal game and finishing 8-8 will be a good season pretty soon around here again.

Throw in Jeff Jagodzinski too. He was Favre's QB Coach.

Then why hasn't he offered him an extension. The guy is a lame duck coach. No player is going to respect a coach with zero job security. Jerry needs to cut his losses and move on.
He has two years left on his contract. Is there some rule that all coaches need at least three years on their contract?

Wade isn't going anywhere this year.

Ok Wade's leaving..it's over now... -- no offense but is there anyone MORE WRONG on this forum than you? You have to have like a 1 out of 1000 record for being right about things in all the posts I've read. LOL!

4th year is an option - no doubt club option. that means he's sitting on a one-year deal.

all reports who broke jason to rams suggest wade to DC meaning jerry will pickup the option if Mike S. will have him. not a rocket science here.

Pretty cheeky for someone with 451 posts to his 25k... And wrong to boot. Theo is a voice of reason around here. One of the few.
