How can you extend Dak at this point?

Gotta wonder if some of the actual players behind the scenes are starting to tire of Dak. They have to see what most of us see.
I think your spot on.

They have to think they won’t win anything with this guy.

Been saying it for years… he’s not the answer.

At all.

I think something that keeps Jerry up at night (and subsequently makes me a bad GM) is the idea that he will let a Garrett or Dak go, and they go off and succeed somewhere else. I think that terrifies him. And so he holds on too long.

Extending dak would be terrible. He’s reached his ceiling.

It’s more an overall issue with the qb position around football. That’s why him and guys like Daniel jones are getting huge deals.

But dak has had several pretty good teams now and has not been able to do much with them. It’s time to move on.

I actually trust our front office to evaluate a new qb… I think Mcclay and co are pretty good at drafting

Yea I hear ya but he is scheduled to count 59 million next season. If we cut him the cap hit is 61 million. In 2025 the cap hit if he's cut is 36 million. Those are devastating numbers no matter how it's sliced up. One thing is for sure, it would be a massive mistake to extend or restructure at this point, just do what needs to be done and let's move past it all.
Maybe a trade to a QB strapped team where they cover part of his salary, and no players or draft picks involved

Other teams find ways to cut bait with an expensive, under performing QB‘s, look no further than Wentz and Goff. Both have been to a super bowl after finding a new QB. Jerry will probably double down on Dak, he is playing checkers while other teams play chess.

I would call Dak into my office this morning and all but force him to drop the no-trade clause. If not, he would be cut after June 1st with little chance of another contract for some other team. I can find many QB’s out there that can do what Dak does for a mere million bucks.

Some team will want dak. Get a 3rd for him and move on if the season goes south the next few games. I'm sure dak would pick a team he's ok with and would like to be out of the spotlight in dallas.

Which doesn't mean he can't be successful but his lack of awareness, mental acuity and accuracy means he won't be successful regardless of his mobility. This guy is just not good man.
If I were them I would simplify the offense and run like a triple option kind of attack. Constsnt hey sweeps and get Dak downhill for more positive plays and safety valves. Rollouts with Ferguson as the first option. Just see if you can win ugly games .

Problem is that doesn’t fit pollard skill set he doesn’t really break tackles anymore

I don’t know how you could justify it at this point. Suddenly the acquisition of Lance is starting to make more sense, maybe the insider guys knew something about Dak. It’s clear this guy isn’t even a middle tier QB anymore there is no way you can pay him that kind of money and compete. There is no defense good enough, no receiver good enough to elevate Dak to that kind of pay and production.
It's becoming painfully obvious that Dak is on the decline.
I hope it obvious enough that even our " Football Men" can see it and move on.

Do not ever underestimate the bad roster decisions of Jerry Jones. He is capable of a lot of damage. Extending Dak and making a bad situation worse is what he does. I can not wait and see how JJ talks about the latest Dak disaster.

The whole team stunk last night but we all know Dak is not the guy to get us out of a jam when needed. He is a accident waiting to happen.

Absolutely not. So here is two ways to look at it. And we are hosed either way.
Also depends on how each looks at paying one players as if it hurts paying future players or not being able to. I was always one for the cap always works itself out. But in this case it would be very detrimental.

Extend him, and then it is even more $$$ that can't be paid to other players.
Designate him a June 1st cut, take the cap hit now.
Either way he will take away $$$ from other players.

The reasoning is, he can't do it, he will never be better than he is, or has been in the past. So why use cap space on him.
Time to make that change if he doest turn it around. Which is doubtful from the way it looks.

Jerry's response:

"Hold my beer."
