It's tough in the zone since our corners drift a bit back and the safeties are super deep.

In man we can handle it, but without a pass rush, man isn't too effective as our guys are running around too long.

What do you think about running the nickel?

Well on those passes to the FB that have been killing us..not so much screen passes.. but anyway, what we apparently have to do is pull the LB's/Safeties aside like they were 3rd grade Pop Warner players and say to them nice and slow.. See.. #33.. on... the.... other....team? Keep.... an... eye... on... that... guy.. when... he's... on... the... field.

Cover the flats disguise blitzes to deceive quarterbacks into checking a play to another receiver by making it appear as if the flats are covered while it is in actuality a blitz.

Have Ware bump a back in route to the backfield.

I like our nickel, but it leaves us open to the run game which the Eagles like to do more.

Disguising our blitzes? I wish. We are very vanilla with the blitz. You see who is coming since they walk up.

Zones such as cover two and three that leave a corner in the flats. Zone blitzes where the DE or OLB (depending on 4-3 vs 3-4) release to the flats - the giants have done this well

That is the inside backers responsibility in that set. Some of the times they have been in position and got blocked out of the play, others...they have been out of position and failed their coverage responsibility. There is nothing to fix, they simply have to do what they are supposed to do. Period. James has been the biggest offender with Ayodele getting blocked down on two scores. Believe it or not, this is not the safeties chore.

It's not necessarily a screen pass problem. It's a 'flats pass' problem.

None of those 5 TDs we gave up to FBs the last 2 games were screen passes. In fact, I think only the Reggie Bush TD was a screen.

Yell at Bradie James (or whoever the real culprit is) until he realizes it's his responsibility to cover the back coming out of backfield.

You play too much madden. A CBs job in cover 2 zone isn't just to cover the flats (unless it's in madden).

If the WR runs deep the CB has too stay with him UNTIL someone goes to the flats, not sit there and wait in the flats (like in Madden).

I understand but it kind of develops the same way. The pocket collapses and the QB dumps to the flat.

Couldn't remember off of the top of my head if they were all screen passes but I figured you guys would get the gist of my question or correct me.

Pretty sure it is James.

It really depends on the coverage called. There are some coverages where the safety is supposed to cover the flats (like Roy did vs the Eagles last year and got the game winning int/td).

But I'm pretty sure the main guy has been Bradie James. I don't think that guy could cover me, let alone an actual NFL FB.

No it doesn't. Not even close. Two completely different plays that develop completely different ways.

Yeah, I'm 95% sure it is James. I'm positive it was against New Orleans and if you look at the one TD against Atlanta, both the CB and I think it was a safety turn around to look at James as if they're saying, "Where the **** were you?"

Well the last one to the FB that the Falcons had... they showed a replay last night from behind the offensive side of the Los.

When the FB ran out left you could see Roy starting to head that way as if he recognized it but then Crumpler fired off the LoS too and then Roy stopped as if to cover him. The only prob was there was another defender behind Roy that was just standing there.

No, I'm not at all hanging it on Roy because I wouldnt know what his responsibility was on that play. Just saying there was a good example, at least to my eyes of the confusion that owed to the FB being uncovered on that particular play.

Tell me how they are so different?

The OL releases and pulls of course but I was referring to pressure and getting it out in the flat to avoid the sack.

We are not the only team that has problems with covering the FB in the flats.

Look at Polites plays against Atlanta. 2 receptions for 21 yards.

Our problem has been that those plays have been for TD's!

#1 Zimmer must make our players aware that TEs and RBs are eligible. It seems like we dont even know players other than WRs are allowed to go out and catch passes.

#2 We need guys like Burnett, Ware , Akin, and safeties to cover them... NOT Bradie James. I love James but he might as well be Jerimiah Trotter or Greg Ellis. He cannot be responsible for covering guys people. He just cant do it.

Chipping backs at the line of scrimmage would do a great deal also.
