How do we fix the screen pass problems?

Most likely. Or else why would NO make it a point to attack that area?

I'm sure they don't blow that assignment EVERY time, but often enough for Peyton to think it was a "trend".

;)
There are two different problems: (1) the flat being a soft spot, and (2) LBs blowing coverage. I was referring to the latter. New Orleans exploited the soft spot, for sure, but it didn't help at all that LBs were blowing coverage.

Well I hope whoever is missing their assignment learns to recognize it better and play it well. I also hope they don't become overly cautious about it. I suspect when we prove we can cover it Philly will decoy there and run middle screens or something else.

That area is soft; softer than our other 'soft' areas of coverage.

plays like screens are going to be tough for a big slow defense like Dallas has.

Ehh....if Ware is rushing the QB, then it's clearly the ILB's (if not a safety's) duty.

If Ware is rushing when he should be covering then it's still his duty. Most feel it's the ILB's duty now and who am I to dispute that. If he's supposed to be rushing then obviously someone else has to cover him.

ILBs and MLBs often have to cover the flats. That's in the 3-4 or the 4-3.

Well that's not always the case although it seems to be here. We played a first out(OLB) and then if another running back came out the ILB took it. I'm glad it wasn't Ware. So I was wrong.

If we ever have someone "Spy" a FB, I'll break Zimmer's legs. There isn't a FB in the NFL dangerous enough to warrant being "Spied" on.

I agree. But if you're blowing the assignments then one way to correct it is to say the FB is your guy. That way no one is confused as to what he needs to do.

The best way to cover it is for the players to do their jobs.

Again I agree. But you can't make a pig sing.

It's not Ware. You are corrected.

:D

Thank you. I was wrong in my assumptions.
