I don't watch pre-season games. Ive been waiting for Sunday Night, when it counts. So, I have not seen this new guy kick at all yet. Does he look good, is he shaky? Are you guys confident with him as the kicker starting 2023, or are you guys worried about that?
You must rarely show up here. You could’ve gotten plenty of feedback on the board during preseason. Basically he was okay during preseason. We won’t know if he’s any good until the real games start. He might not even make it through the entire season. We’re all just hoping that we don’t have to depend on him too much. He’s a rookie and we don’t know much about him.

It’s just frustrating they refuse to take the position seriously.

Reminds me of how they use to handle the safety position in years past, or recently DT until they were forced to address it via trade for Hankins.

Just give me sub 40 yarders and xps where I'm not holding my breath like it's the superbowl and I'll be happy

He was very good in his two years in the USFL, and once he settled in here, he was pretty solid this preseason. His kickoffs go to the back of or out of the end zone. He missed an extra point in the first preseason game, but has a solid track record there (in his two USFL seasons). He missed a long FG (59 yards) where he hooked the ball slightly but had plenty of leg, and then came back to nail an attempt from that distance.

Having not played college football, he's still learning ... and I think that's mostly seen on the longer kicks where he has enough leg but possibly doesn't trust his process enough.

I'm not totally confident in him because we don't have enough to go by, but I do think he's worth giving a shot. Most of his kicks are clean and straight.

I'm not confident at all.
So you have no confidence in the Cowboys at all? Because this is the kid they have been following for years and targeted all along. That's how seriously they take the position. They have enough confidence in him that they signed no one else.

He's a young kicker who shows promise of developing into one of the best in the league. Showing promise isn't quite bulletproof as yet though. He will surely be observed closely by anyone who knows how easily kickers can go from good to "not so hot" in a very short time span. So far, so good.

His kicks don’t move much—pretty straight and solid. Strong leg. The one he missed looked like timing was off on the whole production. I’m willing to give him some rope.
On the extra point he missed, I believe he said that he rushed it. So timing appears to have been the main issue with both kicks. His process appears to be dead on when he sticks to it. Hopefully, we won't have too many bumps where he rushed the process.

That should be the case. He's built a solid albeit short resume on making kicks inside the 40 and extra points. It's when he gets into the longer distances that it appears he's hit and miss.

He played soccer now Football as a 28 year old rookie.
I think he might be a Russian agent. I don't trust him.

Nice way to throw a backspin on what I said, but no, not really. Do you feel confident about some kicker from the USFL coming in and making a 60 yard FG with the game on the line? I'm sure you'll tell me yes just to prove a point, but we all know deep down you won't be.

i wouldn't have confidence in any kicker making a 60 yard field goal to win a game. Seriously, since when was that the mark of a great kicker making a long 60 yard field goals in crunch time? no, what that is is more like a hail mary play.. what we would want is have confidence for them to make a 20-48yard field goal with the game on the line... let's keep this in perspective we're judging Aubrey by making him worthy of almost impossible scenarios.

If that what we are judging kickers by, then we should have kept brett maher.. one of the best long field goal kickers of all time... and he's done it in crunch time so why isn't he on a roster??

Fair enough, I'll give you that. Still, I think my point stands. Hey, I guess time will tell, won't it?

I wonder how many of the posters don't know that NFL extra points are 33 yards?
