How LVE is hurting this run defense

Our safeties *do* make a lot of plays in run defense.

When you'd play that scheme would probably depend down, distance, and reads, but it's consistent with what we *observe*.

Safeties are an active part of any defense so I’m not sure what’s being said?

If your DL and LB aren’t making the play, your safeties have to make the play by default. That doesn’t mean the scheme is designed to allow runners through the first and second-level of your defense. We aren’t talking about safeties coming down on run blitzes. We’re talking about RB getting through 7-9 yards up the field. No defense is purposely designed to allow that unless you’re talking about a prevent.

Also, Kearse played almost exclusively in the box for us last year and effectively served as a linebacker.

Are these bozos trying to sell us that DQs run defensive scheme is to have lve play as a d lineman to allow dbs to make tackles 5-7 yards downfield? They should just delete their accounts or be banned

Am I the only one who watched that video and thought it was just a horrible analysis? LVE has trouble shedding blocks, seems to have poor instincts as he often guesses the wrong hole and has had trouble with missed tackles, but this guy was completely doing a hit piece and half of what he criticized was borderline fabricated and certainly exaggerated. A couple of those plays he did nothing wrong and on a few more he took the pulling Guard strong and stuffed him right in the hole. Ideally you shed and make the tackle, but let’s not act like that’s easy with a guard running downhill in a tight space and not out in open space. This dude obviously just has an issue with LVE and tried to make a video to match his agenda but IMO failed miserably. And I don’t even think LVE is all that great. But at least I’m fair with my criticism
I guess this guy believes he can take Quinn's job and show him how it's done.Good luck!

the league has 5 maybe 10 corners a year who are not jags, and a lot of that has to do with what is around them. In actuality is more likely around 3 who are not jags. Then you have everyone else and varying degrees in between. Brown is a good corner

We can do better than a corner who has given up the second most receptions in the league and 3 TDs in 4 weeks.

Brown is not a good corner. Stop pushing this crap.

Folks, you can trust xwalker. He’s the same guy that told you Jaylon Smith was actually ballin’ out before he got cut.

You literally have no idea of what you’re talking about. You didn’t know the difference between a 3-4 and 4-3 until last season.

Sounds like you're hating for some reason other than the topic at hand..

No doubt we could better, but that doesn't mean brown is a bad corner. WR's catch passes

I guess the part that he has given up the second most completions in the league and has been allowing WRs to score in nearly every game this season slipped by.

Hopefully Brown goes elsewhere and gets a contract from another team they can regret. The fact he is still here after all these years is ridiculous.

Besides the last game, the cowboys have only given up 1 td per game. Which games were the ones he gave up td's in?

Nuh uh! LVE sucks, cuz I see it!

Unfortunately, that's the reaction you'll get from everyone who's already made up his mind about it. Is he the best LB on the team? No. But he's better than a lot of other LBs in the league. If we can upgrade with someone who can knock a 320 pound OL on the ground, then get to the ball carrier, sure I'd be willing to do that. This argument that he's "slow and lumbering" is unjustified, because we've seen him run across the field to catch and tackle a RB from behind, after that RB has made a couple of other defenders miss. People are just stuck on what they saw a couple of years ago, and refuse to let go. They need to blame someone for any first down, and it can't be someone they like.

Excellent post.

I'm not opposed to bringing in Jabril Cox on 3rd and longs. Yes, he'd be a better LBer on those plays.

Other than that, Vander Esh is the starter, imo.

3rd and long value at a single position isn't enough to justify an active roster spot.

He gave up a TD in the Commanders game, Bengals, and last week against the Eagles. He's a complete liability - this thing that every DB around the league is performing like Brown is such a fan bubble take.

How could we have a top 5 defense and every body sux ? And are still playing ? LVE gets washed on some plays and on some plays he' plays good ball. If our defense was getting washed out every week I might agree with

Some of you guy s take on LVE. But the defense at present is the strength of the team so I'll call BS on the LVE bs

So, because we collectively have a Top 5 defense it therefore means each individual player on the defense is ballin?

Brilliant.

By my count qb's have 260 td's in 6 games. Some are on lb's, but that is a whole lot of db's giving up td's.

I would guess he gets more targets than diggs. I am not saying he is not at fault for anything he has given up, but sometimes the corners are not at fault

being the strength doesn’t mean there isn’t a weak link. They need to get better in a few areas. Run defense is certainly a problem. If this D plans to take things to a championship level.. you can bet LVE won’t be part of that.
