How many teams have been rebuilt while we maintain mediocrity?

The thread isnt about teams being rebuilt overnight (although it is possible to due over the course of an offseason or two as some have given examples). The Cowboys have been mediocre for almost 15 years now.

They haven't been mediocre for 15 years. From 03-09 they were 67-45 and went to the playoffs 4 times. Well above mediocre. During that same time the 49ers were 40-72 and didn't see the playoffs at all. The Cowboys had a pretty good team put together during those years and screwed up the drafts so bad they couldn't stay competitive but to say they've been mediocre for 15 years and act like all these teams have rebuilt and they couldn't is false because they did and they are doing it right now.

Since they last won a superbowl this team is .500, thats the definition of mediocre

the Garrett homers will tell you its a process that cannot take less than 4 years. Those that do it in one or two are clearly screwing up and its all smoke and mirrors.

Those teams didn't rebuild in 1 or 2 years. They did it over several. Same with KC. They seem like overnight successes, but in reality they took several seasons to rebuild.

Thats also over simplifying it and ignores the good years it took to get those 5-11 and 6-10 seasons to work out to 500. The fact is they've either had good years or bad theres only been 4 years where they were 500.

for those with low standards maybe. When your standard is not just making the playoffs but at least getting to the NFC championship game that is pathetic. And in the Landry years that would have been the standard.

I will start with the 49ers and Seattle.

Add the Packers, Commanders, Philly, Jints, Chicago, ..that's just the NFC.

We have rebuilt once in the last 17 years under Parcells..

and that rebuild lasted only a couple of years after he lft for Phillips.

We don't rebuild.

We age like wine...once it turns to vinegar..

time to restock.

Its time.

What did the Commanders rebuild themselves into? A doormat?

Until RGIII came along..I'd say that.

But we were so fragile..he even beat us playing injured last year for the Division title.

RGIIi already has one title after two years.

That's half of what Romo has after 10 years in the pros.

You do the math.

We are the doormats.

New coach came in and they started winning quickly. And it is arguable about how many of them had more talent then Dallas did when Red Ball took over.

True, but the coaching staff just one piece of the puzzle those teams had spent the last 3-4 years putting together. I'm not trying to give Garrett a pass. Even with the injuries, things should be better by now. I'm just saying that those other teams didn't just go from bad to good overnight. They all went through a process as well.

LOL, that's not rebuilding. Were you aware there was a 2013 football season? The Skins are de-building. Bye bye, #2 pick.

If your definition of rebuilding is that flexible then I guess Parcells rebuilt us too, so there goes your whole argument. The whole league has rebuilt multiple times under your concept of rebuilding. To be fair, rebuilding is a stupid concept no matter how you define it so my definition wouldn't be any better.

The 49ers went 8 years in between winning records and the Hawks went 4. It didn't happen over night but don't let that stop you from bashin the Boy's.

8-8: happened in 3 seasons, what's the point (NO PROGRESS @ ALL)? Oh you're saying the coaches were more important; we agree with that too :)

pretty sure rebuilding used to be a "3-year process" that turned into a "4-year process" this year and is destined to turn into a "5-year process" next off season

The Niners actually draftet pretty good. Willis, Bowman, Davis, Kaepernick, Aldon Smith and Crabtree and a couple great guys on Oline. Heck even their last pick safety Reid is playing awesome. A great coach also helps.

It is a lot easier than covering (standing your ground) I'll give you that and been there on other topics. It's really a tool just to ruffle feathers instead of touting some kind of wine and cheese intellect or anything..
