How much cap trouble can this team be in come 2015

I know they Cowboys are 6.6 million under the salary cap this year. (that's including Sean Lee's extension) They have Jason Hatcher(2 million this year) and Anthony Spencer (making 10 million this year) as higher salary free agent after this season. I'd expect them to try and sign Hatcher especially with what's been going on with Ratliff. I don't know what to do with Spencer, part of me says we should sign him to a 3 year deal but part of me knows he is going to want a little raise (especially if he records double digit sacks again) and he is right at the age when pass rushers begin their decline (30 at the start of next season) so part of me says it's better to let a guy go a year early than too late.

But when I see what free agents are coming off the books next year i't a little worrying as a Cowboys fan they have 3 potential big contract guys they would be crazy not to bring back. Bryant,Carter and Tyron Smith will all command a pretty hefty contract. Also Murray will be a free agent, I'm assuming he will be the odd man out if they money situation is as bad as it seem because running backs are fairly expendable and we seem to have a pretty good one with Randle but that's still to be determined.

My concern is that this team will need some improvements at quiet a few positions (by this point Ware will be 33 years old and if we let Spencer go they need another DE or 2) while trying to resign the homegrown talent with the current cap situation is that possible to do simultaneously? I know it shouldn't be a huge concern because it seems kind of far away but I'm just saying for the sake of bs'ing. Plus I think thats why Dallas is trying to roll that money over to next season and not spend that 6.6 they are under right now.
My usual take on the salary cap is there are ways to create the money needed by restructuring deals and that kind of thing but this seems kind of extreme with all those guys coming off the books at once.

What are your thoughts, are they in trouble?

I dont share the same concerns, to be honest. As much as I like Carter, he is expendable if Holloman is a player, and I think the same could be said with Murray and Randle. Smith will need to be resigned, but DE is my biggest concern.

I heavily disagree with this assertion. He has a good eye for the ball, 98.9 percent of the time he can make a tackle by himself. Has amazing speed, and a pretty good line backing I.Q[the play on snelling for the falcons last year, and many others] And he takes good angles..

I'm not so sure he just might be better then Sean Lee.

No, because those contracts will be structured to be restructured and open space. Then the next big contracts will be structured the same way.

Deals like Ratliff's are the only ones that can hurt and have to be absorbed through other restructurings if he leaves before planned. Front offices have a pretty good understanding now of how to pay a premium and still balance the future cap, with only the unexpected early retirement of a player (or a butt-sore general manager of a division rival with too much say-so) throwing a wrench in the works.

Carter is already better then Lee IMO. Thats not a knock on Lee either, just a praise for Carter. They're both complete LBers but Carter just has more speed.

But to also add a couple pieces of need while keeping the guys that need to be resigned?

I like Holloman a lot and to add him to Lee and Carter would be ideal, I really like Carter and think he can be a special player... But that's obviously if he proves he can stay healthy

Wait.....guys would really let Carter walk for Holloman? Did you guys not see how dominate Carter was last season? Though it was brief, how can you not look at him and not feel like he can not only be as good as Lee but potentially better? The guy was guarding wide receivers in the slot.....

We should be fine cap wise in 2015. Austin, Ratliff, Mack, Livings, Scandrick, Free and Orton all should be off the books by then. They can resign TSmith, Dez, Carter and maybe Murray and still be OK. Ware, Witten, Carr, Lee and Romo all have room in their deals to restructure and Ware and Witten are almost already past the point of being cut-able if they fall off. Obviously they have to keep drafting well and hope some young guys like Leary, Parnell, Crawford, Church and TWilliams step up. The cap is expected to rise and continue to rise after next year, when the new TV contracts kick in.

Why in the heck would Spencer accept a 3 year deal from the team who has franchised him the past two years?

Hatcher could be back next year but I wouldn't be surprised if he walks.

2014 and 2015 major free agents expected to be resigned:

Tyron Smith
Dez Bryant
Bruce Carter
DeMarco Murray
Dan Bailey

Not to mention replacing quite a few veteran starters.

yeah sure the cap will rise. We have heard that fantasy before. A lot of the money forecasted to go into the cap is now going into benefits. It is not going to rise as much as some here think.

I don't expect Murray to be re-signed...

With the new CBA combined with how RBs are viewed these days, I agree. He may be resigned but highly doubt he will be a "major FA signing". If he wants major $$, I see the FO letting him walk and either get another RB in the draft or on the cheap in FA, Randle coming into his own, etc.

I watched Bruce Carter run down Julio Jones in the open field last year. But yea..lets let him walk
