I see your new here........
Nah been here. Just get tired of the Dak money talk. It's everywhere.
I see your new here........
Great post.
- Tell Dak and his agent that Dak is a game manager and that’s fine because that’s what we want, so we have to pay you like one.
- Make them aware that he needs a strong supporting cast to be successful and his pay rate has to reflect that.
- Make them aware that those 5 million dollars of endorsements he receives yearly only come as a Dallas Cowboy. They could rise to 10 million a year if this team wins a Superbowl.
- Tell them to sign the 4 year extension worth 80 million/42 million guaranteed because that is a more than fair offer or leave town in 2020 and gamble in free agency. They will be lucky to get 3 or 4 million more per season. On the flipside, they may only be offered deals in the 15 million range or even less with very little in endorsement opportunities.
- Tell them that the 4 year extension will allow him to cash in on a second extension earlier if his play improves (while allowing the front office to also cut him after 2 seasons if his play doesn't improve, but leave that part out. Have to look out for the franchise as a whole. Sorry Dak).
- Tell them to be realistic and take the for sure money. There is something special brewing in Dallas with the outlook of this young defense and he would be a fool not to be a part of it.
2019 Cap Hit $6m (5.1 million more than his 2019 cap hit of 720k)
2020 Cap Hit $13m (about 13 million less than franchising him this season. If he plateaus or declines in play use a 1st round pick on a QB in the 2021 draft)
2021 Cap Hit $19m (Bargain compared to most starting QB averages in the next couple of seasons)
2022 Cap Hit $19m (Can be cut with only 5 million in dead money and 14 million in cap savings)
2023 Cap Hit $20m (Can be cut with 0 dead money and 20 million in cap savings)
Starting caliber qb. he's right on the border line.Logic goes out the window when you are talking about signing a starting caliber QB in the NFL....as much as he gets crap for it, Dak knows he is a starting level QB in the NFL and will be paid as such either in Dallas or elsewhere.....i think the wildcard here is the second bullet point about the supporting cast....knowing what we do of Dak, he may be willing to take a little less so that he can have others around him...he strikes me as that type of leader but what do i know....
It must be nice to have a job where you tell your boss how mutch you paid
Dak is gonna get paid! Like it or not
Negotiation 101. Ha.
In the NFL, that isn't how it works.
His agent will do his diligence and determine his market value, he'll also talk to teams that would have ballpark offers should he become a FA.
Then, we can offer him a competitive contract or he'll go elsewhere, and we can sign a FA, trade for a QB, or roll the dice in the draft. The only leverage teams have now is the franchise tag, where he still gets paid.
The NFL is a competitive market, you don't really tell players anything. The other teams will decide his value.
Dak's agent in his Jerry McGuire voice....SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!!!

Dak is under contract for the 2019 season. $720,000 to be exact. The team has more pressing contracts than Dak's contract. D-Law, Byron Jones and many others need to be solidified before Dak's Prescott. After all of the players are signed then address Dak's. Make him an offer that is team friendly and wait. He can sign it or not. If he has a solid 2019 season, elevate the offer. The Cowboys can use the franchise tag if the need arises. Dallas will pay the going rate. Dak will establish that rate. Dallas should package a group of players that are assets to Dak's success. Dak is a smart man that will win a Superbowl. He knows that he can't overvalue himself like Aaron Rodgers then have the team crumble around him
Don't discount what Dak has done. He has more wins since he came into the league than most of the Qbs in the league. I think that only Brady and maybe Brees has more. Dak is worth every penny he gets. Jerry is a smart business man and knows the value of what is at stake.

Here are the players that are UFA https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/all/dallas-cowboys/
Amari Cooper's contract is looming as well. He needs an extension prior to Dak.
