Hurd Couldn't get Separation

Many things can be learned, but becoming faster and quicker isn't one of them.

And why does everyone act like he's saying Hurd is the worst player ever? Sam's work ethic is very admirable, and he's tough and a good special teamer. But there's nothing wrong with believing that his lack of speed and quickness will limit his upside.

Not talking about faster and quicker. Irvin was not all that fast or quick, how did that turn out? ;)

Experience is the reason that players that have good potential never exceed. Put Hurd on a team like the Stinks or the eagles and I would bet in a year or two he would be MUCH better than he is now...

;) Repetition is how you learn...not stuck behind guys like T.O., Glenn, etc..

Anyway, I guess he will be cut this coming season...oh well!

Nice to know you, Hurd!

1. TO
2. TG
3. Crayton
4. Draft Pick
5. Stanback
6. Austin

Either Crayton, TG, or Hurd is gone. If we don't re-sign Crayton or TG doesn't come back, he could stick around.

But I think we've seen enough of him to know he'll never be a solid #2.

I think TG's career is probably over.

Again, the complaints are about things you can't learn.

Sorry, this just doesn't jive with the earlier comments about Largent. While Largent's physical talents are underrated, IMO, it was his precise route running and ability to disguise the route until the cornerback committed that made him so good. Both of those skills can be learned.

Thanks, CL. I even gave the guy tons of compliments in the thread.

I'm obviously not saying he sucks. I'm just saying he's not a future #1 or #2 receiver. How is that at all controversial here? Too many homers, I guess. But the fact is, he's an UDFA receiver, and very few of them turn out. I want to surround Tony with top notch talent for years to come and I don't like the idea of counting on a bunch of borderline WRs.

It's not about Hurd, it's about wanting better talent.

I have no idea what you're talking about with Largent. You must be thinking of another poster.

Uhh...Irvin was fast and quick.

Austin

UDFA
Austin's sort of the polar opposite of Hurd. He has all the physical ability in the world, but he was very raw at the position. The difference is huge in that he can improve his deficiencies by learning the position, whereas Hurd cannot improve his deficiencies by "learning."

true enough, but Austin's chances of being a #1 or 2 are very slim as well

I absolutely agree. And I don't want to rely on him either. It should be a "if he works out, great, if not, oh well" situation.

If coaching staff believed that Glenn's career was over, then they would have put him on IR long time ago.

I don't know why others can't understand this. I keep saying that JJ is holding that spot on the 53 for a reason. Obviously he's getting positive info regarding TG's return.

Hurd was open for 6 and Romo just flatout missed him. Actually, Romo missed several throws yesterday that would've gone for TD's. Witten said that Romo hurt his pinky finger and couldn't grip the wet ball very well....

To be honest, Hurd was open nearly every play... he was just the last read, and the one thing the jets were doing right was rushing the passer.

Hurd was open all game though--and I mean all game.

After 5-pages I am sure someone mentioned that Hurd was open for a possible TD... a big play at least.

Too bad Romo underthrew him :p

And T.O.....

And Witten.....

Sorry, thought this was a Hurd discussion.
Sorry, thought Romo's ability to get the ball to Hurd makes him apart of this discussion.
