Hurns signing impact

I think its all pretty simple:

Thompson is the Butler replacement. 4th receiver with some speed.

Hurns is a replacement for TWill. I don't think Terrance will be cut, but maybe they can find a trade. If not he has a minor role in the offense.

The biggest issue to me is Beasley/Switzer. Redundant. They serve the same purpose. I think Switzer can do what Beasley does if not better. If there is a trade available for Beasley they should jump on that.

I think the signing of Hurns means that the cowboys won't go WR high in the draft and T Will is the only WR on the bubble

I don't think cutting or trading Dez is or should be an option if we want to compete this year
I agree. And let me say the only reason I want Dez back is because I don't think he is as bad as he showed last year.

I think all this Dez talk is just that. Talk. I think Beasley and Williams are more in trouble. It honestly wouldn't shock me if all these guys are brought back honestly.

Yeah. They could take a WR anywhere from 1-4 rounds and it would still potentially be a solid pickup.
Maybe just me but I don’t see a can’t miss super star WR in this draft but more like several really good prospect and raw talent
It wouldn’t shock me if we drafted a couple if things fell right

With the addition of Thompson and Hurns we don't have to draft a WR. If one of the top three WRs falls to us then they should consider drafting one and cutting Dez. I'd prefer a LB or OL.

If our free agency stopped here, OL would be my top choice with LB and S being pretty equal as the second choice.

The accuracy of your post is depended on what you think Dez is now. It's a valid post if Dez really is the old Dez just waiting 3 years to break out of his slump.

Huge hole at LG right now. And swing tackle. So OL is my top choice.

LB is next. Health issues with Jaylon and Sean Lee. No depth there.

I think we need to add a body to S but not sure we can find a starter in the draft. I wish that spot could be addressed in Free Agency or trade. Cant go into the season with Woods, Frazier, Heath, and a midround rookie.

Ok. Do you need a cookie? Because this seems personal for you. Hopefully Witten is gone before him.

Hopefully they not get canned and are replaced. These guys are not bringing anything to the table except eating salary cap that could be better spent on other better players.

I am sick of losing for 22 plus years. I'm a pretty patient guy. I still have season tickets through the this year's and the bad.

I am done with those two because they are holding the team back in large part because winning is secondary to keeping those two on the roster. It is killing our cap.

Yeah. I don't think the value will be there at #19 either. The receiver value is probably better in the second or third round. OL value is probably better in the first round.

As far as I have seen tape on Hurns he seems to excel in the slot where he can use that big body to out muscle people for the ball.

I agree
But meeting with Jerry and going to a route guru likely indicates a push from the team and a desire from the player to improve and contribute

Here's hoping it works

will our holes the WR position was probably the weakest in the draft and team may have felt that area could be better addressed in FA.
I think we now go DL, DB in draft with later rounds on TE, OL

I'm sorry but we cannot draft yet another rd 1 OL unless we're planning to trade Martin

Cannot tie up that many resources into on area
Need to build a team not an OL

Time to put on your big boy pants and coach the OL with the inclusion of some lower picks

They need to go out there and get Navarro , he would be a. Upgrade over Hitchens. He’s still a very good linebacker. Also if they manage to get him and tre Boston I’d feel really good about this defense

I think it is Beasley who is odd man out because this is contract year for him, meaning we consider giving him real money after this year or we lose him and get nothing in return. He still has value now so let's get something for him now

I'm not with you. This offense is built around the line so I'm for making it as strong as possible. Sure, we've got Elliott and we are trying to beef up our WR corps, but the line is the centerpiece of what makes this offense go. One weak link causes that to collapse. We saw that last year while Collins was adjusting to tackle and the coaches were trying to figure out left guard, then we saw it again when Smith went out.

We haven't been losing for 22 years but I understands your frustration. I like Dez and even like Witten.......but if they aren't offering anything then something needs to happen.

Hurns is a very good signing. Good player. Solid. Good value. But where does he fit and what does it mean.

Some have said that means we will not draft a receiver high. I'm not convinced of that. It certainly possible, but not nearly a certainty.

I may be in the minority, but I don't think Beasley is the odd man out. He was the guy that was double teamed last year. Switzer is probably safe as well. That's just my opinion.

So that leaves Dez, Hurns, TWill, Noah Brown and Thompson. I guess Thompson could bump Switzer or Switzer could bump Beasley but I don't see that happening.

The Hurns signing makes three Cowboys "bubble guys". I see them as Dez, TWill and Noah Brown. I don't think Hurns was brought on board to replace Brown. Brown might be cut, but we spent money on Hurns.

Hurns is going to be one of your top two guys in terms of salary. He is second only to Dez right now in terms of WR salary.

If we don't draft ANY player at WR then maybe everyone is safe. I just don't see it that way. We just upped our WR percentage of cap today and it was already bloated with Dez.

Looking at next year I see no way Dez is on this team (2019). If that is true and Hurns is not THE GUY then WR remains a high priority in this draft and I would expect one to be taken in the top 4 rounds.

I think it's still plausible that Hurns will be your no 1 receiver this year interns of salary, especially if we draft a WR. The team doesn't have to make the decision on Dez until later. I think there are a lot of variables still in play.

Dez might be a Cowboy or he may not. I think the odds are at least 50/50 that he doesn't play the full year for us in 2018. I could also see Dallas keeping Dez and trading him off to a team who has a WR out for the year in the first two or three weeks and panicks and in that way Dallas could move on from him in that manner as well.
agree. Dez/TWILL are on the bubble HUGE.

I don't think ANY dominant OL in the history of the NFL has required all starters to be rd 1 picks

Of our coaches are this incompetent they need to be replaced
