1. Vea - only one of the worthy of the #19 pick...difference maker

2. Hurst....smaller version or Vea; has the motor, good player, I see him more late first round kinda guy

HUGE DROP

Payne....he went to Alabama where there are no rules; he would get drug tested in the NFL so he would not have the same rules...so few players from Alabama have had true, what 1st round players should be, success in the NFL....no thank you to him or anyone else with Alabama next to "School" in their bio

VV is clearly a first round talent. Not sure Payne is a first round player but can see him developing into one. Hurst is a late second / third to me. If he doesn't win with quickness, he loses badly.

Not trying to hijack your thread but Taven Bryan is who I would look at as similar grade to Payne. If VV is gone at 19 can I slide back and get both Payne and Bryan or a combination that includes one of them.

Not sure Id agree on Hurst - sure his game is based on quickness, but he also wins with great pad level and leverage which creates power. He played quite a bit of 1T this year and was able to hold his ground against double teams.

We normally see things similiarly. I watched clips as you suggested but I just didn't come away seeing him that way.

Fair enough - I liked what I saw on tape and he had 50+ tackles and 30+ run stops so I'm not worried about his power to hold up in the run game.

Hurst-I think he is the best interior DT in the class...stout v the run and generates good pressure...he just looks like a Cowboy to me.

Vea-Best true nose in the class...strong v the run and gets solid pressure...both Hurst and Vea are incredibly athletic....but I believe Dallas will take a 1T when I see it.If they break trend...it should be him.

Payne-there is alot with him to like...incredible athlete for his size...I think Vea is better. For some reason,we seem to ignore Alabama players.

Vea will probably go top 15....Hurst could be there....Payne also.
Id LOVE any of the 3.
We get anyof them...our DL is better...day 1.

Vea all the way...Hurst if everyone is gone...Payne hopefully n the 2nd, but under JG DAL seems allergic to drafting Alabama players.

1) Vea: Three down 1T that can collapse the pocket on passing downs and plug up the middle on run plays.
2) Hurst: Three down undersized 3T. Marinelli type player that could make big impact in DT rotation.
3) Payne: Two down 1T that can plug up the middle and make plays in the run game. To me, Payne is the type of 1T that Dallas won't take in the 1st. Figuring they can get more value from this type of player in later rounds.

Payne disengages and penetrates a lot. That is exactly the type of 1T that Marinelli likes. It is the Brockers type that stacks the line that he doesn't want.

I personally like Payne over Vea but either one would be fine.

Hurst does little for me. He's a third down DT. Meh.

Richard likely takes over and runs basically the same defense.
Seattle front 4 has been very different to ours in make up though.
Guys like Alan branch, red Bryant, Brandon Mebane , ahtyba Rubin are all 310 plus

This is just false.

Payne will be a much better pass rusher in the pros than Vea if they boy go to one gap teams.

Hurst led all PFF defenders with the highest grade last year and was top 5 in both run stuffs and pressures last year.

Little better than 3rd down DT.

I like all three, but really like Vea.

Curious, would anyone consider trading up for one of these guys?

Vea and it isn't close. I'd be fine with another 3T I suppose should Vea not be there....but its not an area of necessity. I'd take a LB or CB worthy of the pick over another 3T given the choice.

I know people think Hurst is too light but if he lights up the Combine like Donald then he will shoot up ahead of us.
