Spotrac will have the details soon. Cap hit is all that matters these days.

Coogi it is all "Cap Math" there are a lot of loopholes, and manipulations that go on in big deals like this.
The longer the contract the better it is for the team, as they can move $ to back end, and then either extend or deal with it.

Jones boys wanted dak to take a 6 year deal last time, but dak was greedy and wanted a 4 year deal so he could then get a raise
with the 2nd contract. His deal was not team friendly at all with the length of contract.

mahomes contract was 10 years, so they can do a lot of manipulation, very team friendly.

As you can see , Hurts cap hits will be cheap, so they can spend $ the next 4 years on the players around hurts.
They want to take advantage of the current team and window, and get some rings. I suspect hurt wants to win
more than make a few extra millions, unlike our greedy diva.

The eagles are now all in on hurts, and in winning the nfc for the next 3 years at least, only question is can they beat KC in SB? and
maybe they get lucky and KC doesnt win the afc.
Rarely do teams go a full season without major injuries to key players…they almost NEVER go two straight full seasons without major injuries and Hurtz running all the time….think it’s a ticking time bomb

What’s the cap hits after the first four years?

The Giants simply chose to not backload their deal.
In order for the cap hits and reported numbers so far to all be true, he'd have to have a cap hit of around $85 million in 2027 and $80 million in 2028, more or less.

That's assuming five years, $255 million total. The only guaranteed portion here that really matters for cap purposes is the signing bonus, which is about $23.3 million. That gets spread from 2023 (technically the last year of Hurts' rookie deal) all the way through 2027. There's no signing bonus on the cap for Hurts in 2028 at the moment.

So let's do some quick math. $23.294 million, divided by 5, is about $4.66 million per year of prorated bonus. That means part of Hurts' rookie 2023 salary was also converted to bonus to get his cap hit down to 6.15 million. That's fine, but even if we add up his signing bonus and each of those four reported cap hits, that only gets us to $96.544 million. Where's the other $160 million? That's right, hanging out in 2027 and 2028 along with an extra $5 million or so of that remaining prorated bonus.

That’s the difference between Jerry/Stephen and Roseman.

2027 and 2028 could be a first sale crap fest, but at least they get a crack at this thing for 4 years with very modest cap hits.

The cap hit becomes “let’s rip up the rest of that contract and give you a new one where we can repeat this”

Why are they just stopping after the first four years?
The short answer is because they only have two years after that to account for the remaining $160 million. The slightly longer answer is that they expect to do another extension in the 2026 offseason to replace those years anyway, so all the Philly homers are going to say those years "don't count."

What does it look like for Hurts in 2027 and 2028?
We don’t know, only the first four years were tweeted. But if you do the math, it’s some big ballooned non-guaranteed salaries left over. Depends on how many void years Howie adds at the end beyond that. If he adds more than 1 he could really make it bonkers

The Eagles are pushing the big numbers down the road. The salary cap will be much bigger. If something happens you can cut him before then.

It's really no different than what the Cowboys (actually most teams) do now.
Eagles seem to do it more than us. Esp void years.

I am betting 3 void years. And he does another extention circa 2028 which throws those void dollars into the next contact.

How is this possible? Please answer.......anyone (lol)

Daks cap numbers have been 17,19, and 26 mil and its only a 4 yr deal. He has 61 mi. Guaranteed still, and will most likely be turned into a sb for his next deal. Great thing is that 61 mil has already been paid. It'll only be there for prorated purposes. That's 12.2mil a yr + his base salaries for each yr. Dallas did this with Romo his whole career.
