Hurts update sounds more serious than first reported

I'm just a dumb fan but playing Hurts at 75% instead of Minshew seems like a dumb call to me. Minshew is already a better passer and Hurts could really injure his shoulder. It would've been a completely different game had Hurts been on the field Saturday but he doesn't play defense and I doubt would've thrown the ball enough to score 27 points. I bet they will be even more run-heavy if he plays, with him running a lot less.

I never root for players to get hurt but I don't give a crap that Hurts and Johnson are out. Don't see a mention anywhere that Dallas is out its RT too, as well as four defensive starters. Nobody made excuses for the Cowboys when their QB went down, but I guess that's what happens when you win.

They will consider sitting Hurts for 2 reasons for the rest of the regular season.

1, They know that one hit could take him out for the rest of the season.

2. It's his throwing shoulder, so the repeated action of throwing the ball could wear down on his injury or impact his throwing motion/ability to throw the ball.

Yep. See RG3. Came in and lit the league on fire. Turned around a very bad Washington team. Was never the same after his injuries. Didn't help his coach sold him out to try and win his rookie year and pretty much ruined him.

Hurts will have to figure out how to win long term from the pocket. And pick his spots to run. He's still too reliant on the run to succeed. Mahomes and Josh Allen pick their spots and are efficient when they take off but they don't need that aspect to succeed. Hurts does right now. NFL coaches live and breathe their jobs. They will figure out how to contain and stop him over time. It happened to Kap, too. He was an excellent runner and killed teams with it early on. Until they figured him out, he had to rely on being a pocket passer and went downhill. Hurts is still very shaky as a passer when I watch him.
Run first QBs have a short career span.

Right, but will he really be 100% for the playoffs? Not that I care. I hope they make the wrong decision, whichever that is. It just seems to me that Minshew gives them a better chance to win than Hurts does if they can't have Hurts doing what he does.

If Minshew can throw like he did against us, they should beat the Saints. Then they can rest everyone. The Giants are praying for an Eagle win, they may need that last game.

I'm part of that fane base and I don't take part in the Dak bashing here or wishing he would get hurt or die in a plane crash, or any negative stuff like that. I'm still the die hard fan I was when they last won a SB.
I don’t wish for any of that stuff either but the truth is the truth. Dak has yet to prove he can make a run in the playoffs. That’s also the truth.

im Torn on the whole Hurts thing. as a OU alumni i want him to succeed just to prove OU can produce a Superbowl QB, just not against us. Also as OU alumni i cannot stand him and hope someone rips his arms off... he was just coming to OU to show he could be a passing QB acted like a turd to teammates like he was better than them because he came from alabama. alienated himself from everyone but the Coaching staff and WR. pretty much epitome of a hired gun. I hate NIL Transfer Portal crap its bad for College football.

I been wondering if it was worse than reported. If you look at the play it happened on, it did not look good.

However, can they also be playing games. So they best be careful with that.
Though I believe he could play, rather this week or the next, or not until the playoffs. How effective would or can he be.

He has had a great year as the team have also. So do they have enough to win one of 2 games. NO can be a spoiler.

We actually need the Giants to lose against the Colts. So the Giants have something to play for in that last game. If they clinch a playoff spot this week, they too could be resting starters in that last game against the Eagles.
Giving the Eagles a better chance to win even without Hurts.
He is hurt and it makes sense that he is very likely to not be anywhere close to what he was before. They are worried and desperate with Lane Johnson seriously hurt as well.

He looked fine pregame. Had both arms behind his back in one camera shoot that would surely put strain on a bad shoulder. I call BS!

I call lol. I doubt that he will run like he has all season. One good hit and he is out again and his throwing will be affected from being hurt and being out and by having the issue at right tackle.

hmmm..... this is almost identical to when Wentz got hurt. Wentz was the leading MVP candidate when he got hurt. Hurts was leading MVP candidate when he got hurt. I believe both Wentz and Hurts got hurt in game 13? Both teams were the number 1 seed when the injury happened. They have a pretty decent back up.....hmmmm

In this case history will not repeat itself.

Forgetting Green Bay for a minute....but Jacksonville is REALLY gonna sting if we win out and Philly slips up in one of their last two games.

Both of those losses sting - the Packers and the Jags.

But it's football. Looking back, there are a few games the Cowboys could have easily lost too (e.g. they escaped the Texans).

So, it is what it is.

This team is destined to have road playoff games, which means the coaching staff needs to get this team ready to have successful 1st quarters. They can't expect to come out flat and then "turn it on" later, that's asking too much for the playoffs for a road team.

He'll be fine.......I'm guessing he won't play this week and only the last game, if it's a, must-win.

I hope he returns for the playoffs only to play like *** and cost his team the game, would be an ideal and fitting ending for that garbage franchise and their arrogant clown fans.

He's more of a Bama alumn. He actually won there and played there the longest. Transferred out once he knew Tua was taking over. I believe he actually came in and filled in for Tua in an SEC title game when he got hurt.

Hurts is an excellent running QB. But ALL running QBs are a ticking time bomb for an injury. The history of this league has shown if you want your QB running the ball more than a few times a game, be prepared to use your backup.

Many diseases, conditions, and injuries are described using grades, stages, or types. Usually these classifications or groups represent a range from mild to severe. They are often numbered 1, 2, 3, 4 or I, II, III, IV. Sometimes one problem is even classified using more than one method.

Acromioclavicular (AC) separation was first classified as I, II, and III in the early 1960s. Three additional grades (IV, V, VI) were added in 1984. Type I is a sprain of the AC ligaments. The ligament isn’t torn and repair isn’t needed. Nothing else around the joint is damaged.

:eek:The AC ligament is torn with a "Type II" injury.<---------- The muscles around the joint aren’t injured. Type III occurs as a result of a severe trauma to the joint. Type III is equal to a dislocation of the joint. An X-ray of this type will show one clavicle (collar bone) lifted up above the other clavicle. The clavicle is no longer level with the acromion bone on the other side of the joint.

Types IV, V, and VI are all grades of Type III. Each type is a little more serious than the number before it. Type IV is also a dislocation of the AC joint. Instead of being displaced (pushed) up, the clavicle is moved backward or pushed into the trapezius muscle. Type V is the worst form of Type III injury.
I got an update from one of his friends on the OL in football terms. He says it slightly more than a boo-boo it's actually a sore shoulder. He described it in this way it's just an excuse for the coaches to not play him until the playoffs. If he had to play this coming week he would play.

That's no surprise. It never looked serious in the least bit.
