Hurts update sounds more serious than first reported

Hurts is an excellent running QB. But ALL running QBs are a ticking time bomb for an injury. The history of this league has shown if you want your QB running the ball more than a few times a game, be prepared to use your backup.

Exactly!

Hurtz = RGIII = Wentz…..

I was watching the Eagles/Bears game when it happened. As soon as I saw the tackle I immediately said he is done.... but then he didnt even leave the game and I didnt think much of it. Then a couple days later they have him listed as questionable. The defender came down hard on him with all his weight right on that shoulder. It was not pretty.

I been wondering if it was worse than reported. If you look at the play it happened on, it did not look good.

However, can they also be playing games. So they best be careful with that.
Though I believe he could play, rather this week or the next, or not until the playoffs. How effective would or can he be.

He has had a great year as the team have also. So do they have enough to win one of 2 games. NO can be a spoiler.

We actually need the Giants to lose against the Colts. So the Giants have something to play for in that last game. If they clinch a playoff spot this week, they too could be resting starters in that last game against the Eagles.
Giving the Eagles a better chance to win even without Hurts.
hmmm..... this is almost identical to when Wentz got hurt. Wentz was the leading MVP candidate when he got hurt. Hurts was leading MVP candidate when he got hurt. I believe both Wentz and Hurts got hurt in game 13? Both teams were the number 1 seed when the injury happened. They have a pretty decent back up.....hmmmm

I don't THINK he's big enough or durable enough to withstand the pounding he takes in that O' over time. Josh Allen runs as much but is bigger....Daunte Culpepper was huge and made it about 6 seasons before it all came crashing down on him....broke a bone in his back I believe against the Lions and was never the same. Running QB's just don't survive that long.

Hmmm, so there is a chance we can get the div, interesting. Man we should've won against those Jags.

The extent of this shoulder injury has never been revealed. Is it his rotator cuff or is it soft tissue like a ligament? I remember the first report said that he could miss a month. I am not a Dr. but if it is ligament damage it is difficult to raise your arm.

If the injury wasn’t that serious they would play him on Sunday to lock up the NFC East and the first seed. That way they could rest him in week 18. If the Cowboys win tomorrow night and Hurts doesn’t play on Sunday and Philly loses it’s going to get real interesting in week 18.

We don't know... what we don't know. All the reason to win these last two games. Both must wins.

Things will get very interesting if the Cowboys beat the Titans and the Saints can somehow upset the Eagles (Very unlikely even with Minshew playing for the Eagles, but any given Sunday they say). If the Cowboys beat the Titans and the Eagles lose to the Saints, then I wonder if it will make the Eagles feel pressured to start Hurts against the Giants to win the division and save the number one seed.

This probably also answers the question for why Dak doesn't run more. Of course there's plays and games in which he should used his feet, but at the same time he probably doesn't want to over do it with the running too much, knowing how running QBs usually don't have as long of a career as pocket QBs do.

If Hurts is injured for the playoffs, the only team that is truly capable of stopping us is ourselves. The NFC is super weak this year.

San Fran will have a say in that. That D is for real real.

They didn't shed a tear for us when Dak got hurt or Tyron. Eagles fans will be alright. Next man up or play hurt.....

I remember some of them saying "It's not our fault your QB got injured." So I guess they should prepare for that to be turned around on them and not have any NFC playoff team or fanbase giving them a break due to their QB being injured.

Did he get hurt running the ball. Running qbs don’t last long unless you have a matching arm. We see Dak trying his best to adjust to more of a pocket or scrambling in the back field QB instead of the 2016 Dak that would take some designed runs from midfield. Dak had that gruesome injury to his ankle running with the ball. If hurts is smart he will back off the running it so much. It could have been much worse and if he continues when he gets back it will be. These are big boys out there on defense and they want to tackle a qb hard. Not saying they want to hurt a qb. But they don’t get a chance to tackle one as often. And qbs aren’t built like trucks. Daks injury was a fluke type thing but if he continued to run with it then it’s bound to happen. We see wilson not running with it as much and he suddenly sucks.

You really think he will chance running anymore? Doubtful!

I think it is more instinct than anything else. Yes I think he will still look to run, it is a big part of his game and big plays come off of it.

I think Hurts will be good to go for the Playoffs. I would like for Hurts to miss these last 2 regular season games to heal up, and be rusty in the Playoffs.

The injury is on his throwing shoulder, so that's significant imo.

I'm just a dumb fan but playing Hurts at 75% instead of Minshew seems like a dumb call to me. Minshew is already a better passer and Hurts could really injure his shoulder. It would've been a completely different game had Hurts been on the field Saturday but he doesn't play defense and I doubt would've thrown the ball enough to score 27 points. I bet they will be even more run-heavy if he plays, with him running a lot less.

I never root for players to get hurt but I don't give a crap that Hurts and Johnson are out. Don't see a mention anywhere that Dallas is out its RT too, as well as four defensive starters. Nobody made excuses for the Cowboys when their QB went down, but I guess that's what happens when you win.

Even if Hurts returns in Week 18 or early in the playoffs, I would expect him to be a lot more gun shy about running the football. This will hurt Filly’s offense in both their running and passing games. Because his ability to run made his passing easier. If he’s forced to simply be a pocket passer we will probably be seeing 2021 Hurts- the one that led them to a 9-8 season last year.
I hope you’re correct but we’ve got to make it first.

Love seeing positive posts like this. It's crazy to think that on a COWBOYS fan site that there's so much negativity towards our team.

GO COWBOYS!!! :flagwave:
It’s crazy how 27 years will do that to a fan base. Lol
