As I said before, I've never been more embarrassed for the Cowboys than when I saw the pre-game camera shot of the Cowboys "ready" to take the field against the 49ers.

I wish I could find the shot to reexamine it.
Cowboys players appeared PARALYZED WITH FEAR!
It was HAUNTING and DAMNING.

I had predicted the Cowboys would lose before the game, but that camera shot cemented my prediction in my mind.

Meanwhile, the 49ers were dancing, smiling, loose - and played like it.

At the end of the season, I reflected on a video of the Cowboys sideline when they were playing the Falcons. Players were calling the Falcons players "soft" and other pejoratives about their "manhood."

The Niners, basically, did the same thing to the Cowboys.

I hope I never see another Cowboys team with that much worry in their eyes before a game.

That's why I think Mike McCarthy needs to go.

The wounds from the previous season usually heal for most fans after the draft. However the one and done to San Francisco in the playoffs cut real deep. This is as angry and frustrated a fan base as I can remember. The negativity level here is a 10+. Hardly anyone here is expecting a good season from the Cowboys. McCarthy looks like a dead man walking with the Sean Payton rumors hanging over him. Even if the Cowboys have a better than expected regular season who knows if they’ll show up in the playoffs.

I don't think they were scared I think they just put too much pressure on themselves. But the coach didn't help. Fat Garrett is terrible to be honest. He admitted to not doing anything on offense or defense AND he isn't a master motivator. All that adds up to the niners game. Atleast a coach like Phil Jackson tapped into meditation and all of the mental stuff. MM is a joke. Our only hope is Dan Quinn

The rule wasn't the bad part, it was how they interpreted the rule in situations that made no sense.

It was actually a pretty straightforward rule. It just had a flowchart decision tree to it and that was just too many steps for the average fan to get. The bad part of it was that the athleticism of the players outpaced the language. It still exists in almost all the forms it did back then but a different decision tree.

Not exactly , both our lines got beat up, they were the better physical team and could run on us and stopped our run game, Y’all know QB doesnt function without a viable running game. So ….

Yup. You should be pissed. We all should. It’s not just that they lost in the playoffs— again.

It’s the WAY that they lost that is so revealing and disheartening.

They got bullied.
They came out flat.
They played gutless football for 3 quarters.
The coaches did not respond to adversity.
The players were like deer in the headlights.

In short— this team was exposed as a fraud. A talented fraud. Lots of players who think they’re “elite”— but this team lacks the football character, discipline, heart, and will to compete at the highest levels.

That is why I think you, me, and many fans are still in a place of disappointment. Nothing has changed. The roots and problems within the organization are still present— so why will the results be any different going fwd?

Why should I be pissed? It's entertainment. Entertainment I have zero control over. We lose, I move on with life.

Letting entertainment make you mad isn't healthy.

They knew exactly what the Niners were coming to do, the only chance they had of winning that game as to out tough the Cowboys. Not only did they let them be the bully, they helped them with 14 penalties.

The HC freely admits he stayed out of the play calling, even though it was struggling.

Save your anger for another team, this one doesn't even deserve that.

The 14 penalties were a direct result of two factors:

1. Bad coaching
2. Undisciplined play

this isnt Highschool brah, not even college!!

a coach can ask until hes blue in the face to quit with penalties but limited rosters with salary cap makes that type of high school discipline MOOT!!

these are millionaires playing under a hard cap with a union and cant just be sat down nor replaced..

the offseason that no one liked was cutting most if not all the players that made THOSE mistakes all last year,,GONE yet the whining on the offseason.

Usually each year my buddy and I go to the home opener wherever it may be and this is the first year in awhile I said no thanks I’m just going to watch from home. I’ve reached that point for the first time in my fandom where they need to show me before I spend, especially with how pricey things are anymore. I know I’m not the only one whose frustrated, but not even the Dez Caught It game had those feelings lingering as long as our last loss for me (maybe because we got screwed that game and this time we screwed ourselves). I’m looking forward to the season but I just can’t hand over my credit card till I see something different

You don't have to go to games to be a fan, but if you change your Fandom because of disappointing seasons.....you're not a true fan....my opinion, doesn't mean I'm right. Just the way I see it.

nah bra disagree this is the NFL doesnt work like that,,you can cut and trade players but typically wait until the following season to do so NOT in season its not plausible or make any common sense

most of the depth is not near as good you will lose anyway making changes, sometimes you just ride it out.

As you progress in age, these games will matter less and less to you. The bad months will become weeks, then days and finally down to only a few hours.

100% disagree— and we can agree to disagree of course.

I don’t have the time or energy to get into an organizational philosophy of leadership discussion— but no, the players don’t get to dictate who gets playing time and under what conditions.

In well run franchises— that’s the coaches domain. Go listen to players talk about the culture in NE under BB. Stanback talks about it sometimes on the podcast he is on.

Anyway— it’s all business, expectations, and everyone knows what the standards are, and who is on charge.

Exact opposite in Dallas. HC is a puppet, and if he ever draws a hard line, players circumvent and go to “Daddy” Jones to get their way.

The penalty issue is just one symptom emanating from a rotten core. And yes— good coaching and a culture of accountability can change that situation positively. But it does require good leadership— and if we have that in Dallas— please show me where.
