Most likely. A few reasons: 1) the team is not going to break the bank for Dak nor have another NTC in a possible extension 2) Dak’s possible extension will be highly dependent upon how far the team goes in the playoffs assuming the team reaches there and Dak finishes the regular season as starting QB 3) Lance asked for a trade from the 49ers when he was made 3rd string and no longer had a shot to be the #1 QB because of their decision to go with Purdy. He has not done that here so this is an indication that the team does see him as a future long term possibility for it as long as he continues to positively develop.
The reason he has not asked for a trade from the Cowboys:

1. No one would be interested in trading for him.
2. Trance has come to realize he is not a a QB, and at this point he is hoping he gets an extension or another contract by any team in the NFL. Never mind giving him a shot at QB1.

Your opinions on “Trance” are irrelevant because they’re loaded with negative bias towards him.

Lance would not be on any other NFL roster right now. Only in Dallas where the owner can't admit he wasted a 4th round pick.

If.....how about if he can become the 2nd string QB first. Maybe he can win a backup job somewhere in the NFL next year.

However, GM's want an experienced back up QB, who can come in and win some games if their starter goes down.
He is a 4 year vet

Putting money on it....He's your starter in 2025. Watch Dak come out and lay an egg to start the year....just like the playoffs...confidence shot...Then what? I'm rolling with the kid that led the entire league in passing and rushing in the preseason to save my job...That's McCarthy's mindset....

IMO the second game of the season maybe one of the more pivotal games in recent history. I said this in my predict the season post. I feel we lose in Cleveland. Away game and on grass. Also their defense is a bad matchup with our offense. I also feel we lose to the Ravens in week 3. Ravens are better. The Saints are a gimme at home. If we lose to the Saints in week 2 and then start the season 0-3 the wheels may come flying off for the season. Our players haven’t impressed me with their mental toughness over the years and starting 0-3 could get to them. Also with everyone being on a 1 year prove it deal.

One issue that scares me about the first 6 weeks in general is losing Bland. The only possible way I see us losing to the Saints is if we can’t get to the passer and they pick on Bland’s replacement. Or we pull a game like Arizona where we don’t show up. Anyway I feel if we don’t start out solid the hangover from the Packers game and the offseason could be problematic. That Saints game is important. We have to win that or our psyche may be screwed and tantrums and finger pointing may start.

Why else would the Cowboys pay him unless it's the belief that he can lead the team past the 2nd round at least? Herbert hasn't even won a playoff game yet. But got paid a huge contract just because the Chargers believe they have a top 5 to elite level QB in him. And thinks he can eventually lead them to deep playoff runs and a Super Bowl. This is the basis of all QBs getting paid market value. And I asked why would Trey Lance take less than market value. When it's time for his contract negotiations to come up and he is told that he is expected to be the Cowboys starting QB for some years to come. The whole point of QBs getting paid is on the belief that they can turn their teams into strong playoff and Super Bowl contenders.
Okay..."believe".

I thought you said "prove"...sorry!

I guess you thought this up before Rush beat him out for the 2?
I don’t know what my assessment of chasing6’s obvious non-objectivity with respect to “Trance” has to do with his status on the team.

Don’t expect Lance to execute every play perfectly.

hes young.

Romo and Dak have all been through the same thing Lance is going through.

but the kid has talent. No doubt.

young? he is in his 4th year....he is about to get into his second contract if anyone is willing to be stupid or tank...

I thought you were against calling him a rookie?
Sarcasm, but that is what his experience is equivalent to. Most if not all of the QB's that were just drafted have way more playing experience than Trance.
