He won't be for long. He will take QB2 at some point, and sooner than later. Everyone knows this except the extremist anti Trey people.

Then you will start sweating if Dak is not doing so well at QB1. Which I do not believe he will do bad. I expect another great regular season from Dak.
But want to see him improve against the better teams and defenses. Come through in clutch situations more than he has in the recent past.

If the OL improves the way we all hope the will, and the run game gets respected. That will help the passing game tremendously.
Maybe Dak gets that MVP this season.
Dak is leaving after this season. He and Jerry seem unwilling to compromise to come to an agreement. No one is sweating anything in deference to Dak, at this point. The issue is finding a suitable replacement to quarterback the team after this season. It does not seem Trey Lance has progressed to QB1 level. Sans an opportunity to play he’ll never develop. If Rush or Lance were viable options at least one of them would have been offered an extension by now.

My guess the next quarterback will be decided on after the next head coach is hired.

I guess if you want to look at it that way...I don't see Lance as growing. they took a flyer. saw first hand. but now trying to recoop something. the fact that he i QB3 on the last year of his contract says it all.
That is fair. The fact that none of the QBs have a contract is making the speculation run. No one has a clear message and we are all coming up with different theories

Add in that Dak is a polarizing figure and it is causing many to jump to conclusions and make outrageous claims

It is a long season we shall all see how it ends. It will be interesting and entertaining

I have many criticisms of Dak but I still hope he does His best but rarely comes through but once again I will route for him to prove me wrong. I believe not having a contract will be the carrot to get the best out of him. We shall see

Having Rush is a key piece that would allow the team play a chain moving / clock controlling / ball controlling offense that allows for the defense to stay rested and impose their will upon the opponent. I like His style and feel we can still win games with him

Lance is a wild card. I believe He is still growing and has shown glimpse of being an NFL starting QB possibly could even take over games. His running ability is off the charts and His arm strength and release are elite

I do not agree with writing him off nor do I agree with those who do it. But that is fine Do you. But it is the way His detractors talk in absolutes as if he is trash and has shown nothing. This is dishonest and simply not true

If it is important to be the 1st to say it so you can proclaim later "I told you so" then so be it but I just do not see the benefit of being against him and proclaiming he sucks. I do not get it

Offering an extension, or not, to either one has nothing to do with being a viable option. We all know, though some will not admit it. Rush is not, nor has ever been an option. He is a good back up QB that can win some games short term.

We do not know what Trey is yet, but he has shown flashes and has all the physical tools. He has things to learn, as we seen from the PS games. He just needs playing time.

Rush will not be offered an extension, as no one will offer him anything more than a back up.
Trey is a wait and see, his offer is dependent upon if Dak is here or not. And that is not a knock against him. It is just BUSINESS.

If Dak moves on, and that looks increasingly likely, the Dallas Cowboys are not going to pin their hopes on a quarterback they “do not know what” he is. Hopefully the new head coach will have some input into who his quarterback will be. I think McCarthy will be leaving on his own volition.

Jerry has a bit of a mess on his hands. How the team fares this season will dictate what moves should be made. Then, of course, there’ll be the usual fan frustration when Jerry obstinately does not make them.

Trance was drafted. Worst draft day trade for a college player in the history of the NFL.

Galloway and Williams both actually played and had long careers.

Yes, GM Jethro is an idiot.
Agreed...Yes, GM Jethro is an idiot.

The rest you are wrong, heck Taco and Mazi are also worse picks than Trey with a 4th, even if he does bust.

It's just math brother, shouldn't be that hard for you to figure out.

We did not draft Trance.

We did not trade for Trance during the draft.

That took a guess? It’s pretty obvious if we’re looking for a new QB next year, they won’t be decided on until after a QB competition in training camp. And if we’re looking for a new HC a new QB isn’t going to be decided on until after we hire a new HC. That will be the HC’s decision.

He wants revenge, for being born.
His crusade vendetta against Trey is pretty epic...possible hint at some life struggles.

Maybe his mission is to match Pappy's opposites? Its actually MORE annoying, as Dak has his M.O. Trey needs for more years to match it.

You guys are really talent blind. Talent wise Trey's physical gifts puts him in the top half of NFL QBs. I can't wait for all you guys to eat your words when he is QB1 in '25.
Yeah, just like Andy Dalton was a better QB than Dak and was going to take the Cowboys deep into the playoffs. Lots of great QB evaluation happened there, didn’t it?

Lance can’t throw from the pocket. Never has been able to do that. You can’t play in the NFL if you can’t do that. I’m not denying that he’s a helluva an athlete. He’s just not a NFL QB

Absolutely. However, you must add context. The other poster's post was in response to someone claiming Trey wasn't a good prospect. It was merely being pointed out that he has extreme physical skills, and it's common in the NFL for teams to overdraft QB's w/ extreme physical skills. Lance was a 1st round type prospect strictly because he's a QB, sure. SF gave up too much, sure. However, if you don't have a QB, you have nothing. So, SF traded a ton of assets to get a guy w/ great tools. Happens all the time.
