It has its ups and down. Reality is it will take a couple years to tell.
The difference between this draft and previous non-McClay drafts with Jerral Wayne and his Elks Lodge drinking pals is that you can find reasons why they drafted each player, if you are just looking at the player without thinking about the player or players you wanted them to draft.

Fans don’t seem to understand how important blocking is from other positions beyond the offensive line. Lots of our issues running the ball at the end of the season was because our tight ends could not block. Voch breaks down Schoonmaker and the guy blocks like an extra tackle. He is what most of us Washington fans thought he was gonna be.
Thank you!

Defensive picks will get some playing time, make an impact. The offensive picks are a much bigger question

I’ve seen way too many times when we ran on 1st and 10 and Schultz just completely missed on his block and then it was 2nd and 9. Elliott would get blamed.

When that happens less there will be improvement overall.

Sorry if LS was taken too soon according to the media mocks. I’d rather the team use our scouts for what we want to do than the media board, most of whom rely on word of mouth to even make rankings.

We put nearly all our draft capital into outliers.

Mazi has the worst college production you'll ever see for a 1st round DT. Schoonmaker will be a 25yo rookie in September - I can't remember an older rookie since Hayden Hurst or some BYU guys. Fehoko has the lowest broad jump of any defensive end in a decade, and that's an edge rusher's single most predictive drill.

We are betting heavily against the odds this year, and this draft has a lot of flameout potential.
Terence Newman was a 25 year old rookie in 2003. 1st round pick by Bill Parcells, 5th overall. Played 15 years in the NFL: 9 years for Cowboys, 3 years each for Bengals and Vikings.

Dline Coach said Fehoko was drafted to play 3-tech DT, not DE.

So you are saying that if Schoonmaker is anything less than Travis Kelce (the best TE in the league) the pick doesn't make sense???

I think all the picks were win-now picks. Like they said about drafting Fehoko, he'll be a STer. They are looking for guys who fit in what they're doing as a team, and scheme-wise, as they develop and compete for a role.

Look at players like Vaughn, and then our 4-6 WRs.. Only two of those WRs will make it, or I suspect one ST player can also be the 3rd RB and 5th/6th WR, depending on how you roll with your 48, so Vaughn can play multiple roles.

These are all culture change guys. They are all competitors, or so-called dogs.

Im positive if there are things to be positive about.

Not happy about what they didnt do with the Oline and RB. Although I do like Deuce.

I am a big Oline guy and I am baffled that they are content going into THIS season with a worse Oline than the one they had last year. Which wasnt close to good enough.
Relax, the season is 5 MONTHS AWAY!

Fehoko is going to move to DT and be a 3 Tech. As per 105.3 the fan, the radio station that is houses in the Star, right after the pick they were saying they had word that was the thinking on him. So think of that pick as another Osa/ Golston type and not a DE.

Also, Eric Scott isn't slow. He pulled a quad during his timed 40, hence the 4.7. He had an unofficial time of 4.42 at his work out. Plus he is tough and aggressive. He's going to be a good player.

I bet we can find the exact same post from you last year at this time when discussing WRs.

And low and behold, you were wrong, the Cowboys did nothing else until halfway through the season when they finally realized what most of the fans did in the summer of 2022 - that they were short at WR.

Good draft? Bad draft? Mediocre draft? I have no idea.

The confusion came right from the start when we took a DT. We haven't invested a big asset in the DT position in years. I like the pick. He can stop the run and has enough athleticism that with some coaching and refinement he might developed into a decent pass rusher from the inside.

They talked about the run game in the offseason so I figured OL and TB would be prime targets. Nope. The 2nd round pick was a pure need pick. Don't try to convince me otherwise. When LaPorta and Mayer went off the board at the top of the 2nd, I think they worried no TE would get to them in the 3rd so they grabbed Schoonmaker. Who does little for me. Not impressed, nor do I think it's a terrible pick. Odds are it's another questionable 2nd rounder from this franchise that really has some bad 2nd round picks.

Overshown is an athletic freak. And he makes plays. I have no issues with the pick. Will be interesting to see Quinn use him and Parsons together.

Fehoko? Decent player, not sure we needed him. DE is one place we have bodies. Maybe they envision him as a Tyrone Crawford type that they can use as a 3T?

The trade up for a big, tall but slow DB was peculiar. But Quinn has his mold for DBs and this kid seems to fit. Whatever. Doubt he's anything more than a special teams guy.

I like the kid from UNC and when you read his scouting report, he really seems like a guy that could end up at OG.

The TB? Great story. But he's likely a situational guy, which is fine, especially at that spot in the draft. I think Evans was still on the board, right? I would have taken him. I am not impressed with a top 3 TB depth chart of Pollard, Jones, Davis and this kid sprinkled in.
Big Mike said he wanted to get the Cowboy bigger faster and more physical

That's what this draft is

Cowboys fo always seems to gloss over at least one big issue a year thats totally obvious to most.

And that issue typically comes back to haunt us.

I challenge you to find that and until then, stop lying about it.

Just enough time for tyron to get hurt. Lol

Are you saying they are going to do something about the oline and rb issues?

Or are you not concerned?
I’m saying they are going to do something about the oline and rb issues.
