This team is Micah Parsons' team. Best thing to do to support Micah is have the IDL push the pocket backwards instead of getting blown back or losing their gap so the QB can step up and/or run up the middle. Getting the strongest guy in the draft is the best thing to do for Micah. You don't need 11 Micah Parsons on the team you need to support Micah Parsons with complimentary pieces. Not getting a guard early sucks but Mazi was correct imo. There should be strong guards in every draft though so I imagine it'll be fine. Stuff can still happen at the trade deadline as well.

The only way this team gets to the Super Bowl is Dak improving. It’s a QB driven league. He has to step his game up from last year. He has a very solid team around him right now and it won’t mean anything unless he takes the next step. If he does than this absolutely a legit well rounded contender.

Sure we may have drafted some good players.

This draft was a total nuts and bolts draft. It’s cool we improved on a already elite NFL defense.

But…

Dallas biggest weakness was offensive playmakers and all we really did was add Brandon Cooks.

The guard spot is still weak.

I think if they go with their best 5 then that means Tyler back at guard and Tyron back at left Tackle.

I just don’t see a team as it’s currently constructed that’s competing with the Eagles for the division or the conference.

My hope is they have something up there sleeve.

It’s hard for me to believe that Ronald Jones is really going to be their #2 back.

The Cowboys are also really giving Tolbert an opportunity to shine with not giving him any real competition.

My hope is that Dallas will somehow pull off a miracle trade and get Derrick Henry in here.

The Titans are not a contender and Henry kinda changes everything for us. Immediately makes us a legit Super Bowl contender.
Think you can make an argument we got worse....

Lost Kellen....McCarthy taking over is a joke

Dallas Cowboys

Round 1, No. 26: Mazi Smith, DT (Michigan)......Ok....We needed someone in the middle....I get it. But basically your neutering Hankins and Gallimore....wasting a pick when you had bigger needs.

Round 2, No. 58: Luke Schoonmaker, TE (Michigan)....You lost Schultz....reach for this kid....Don't think you filled a need here.

Round 3, No. 90: DeMarvion Overshown, LB (Texas)....Probably taking over for Barr...But is it really that much of an improvement? Looks like more waste of draft capital.

Round 4, No. 129: Viliami Fehoko, DE (San Jose State)....What is the plan here???? Re-shirt this kid like Bradley Anae? And how did that wok out? Take snaps from D-Law...Fowler....Parsons...Sam Williams????

Round 5, No. 169: Asim Richards, OT (North Carolina)....We needed O-lineman.....not projects.

Round 6, No. 178 (from Bears through Dolphins and Chiefs): Eric Scott Jr., CB (Southern Miss)....Another dumb trade. Giving up a 5th next year so we can watch this kid sit on the practice squad? Great move Wil....

Round 6, No. 212: Deuce Vaughn, RB (Kansas State)....Talk about trying to sell jerseys....Jesus. Should have stuck with taking Hendon Hooker in the 2nd. @ least then Jerry could say he got himself a Hooker legally.

Round 7, No. 244: Jalen Brooks, WR (South Carolina)....looks like a JAG. So we haven't fixed our depth @ WR. Puts more pressure on Tolbert to have to step up.

So really...what have we done to improve?

Soberly thinking, few teams ever significantly improve their chances for a championship based on a single year's draft.

If we win in 2024, it's naturally going to be mostly on the basis of the aggregate for previous years' drafts.

But that said, I do agree with those who believe we've addressed the most consistent and most aggravating problem on the team, ie, the ability to stop the run. That's been the chronic Achilles heal of this roster for too many years now.

Damn. You okay? Because you don't seem okay.

Don't mind critical thought, but the idea of critical thought isn't so simple as finding all the bad things you can imagine... rather, the idea of critical thought is to assess both downsides and upsides.

Not that you should care what I think, but this leaves the (natural) impression that you're one of those fans who thinks the rest of us believe Jerry should fire Will and hire you. Yeah, but no.

Each year is different, none of us knows how next season will turn out. I remember half the board hating the Parsons' pick. McCarthy will be calling the plays, no more Elliott. Defense can only get better. We don't know how the draft class will turn out, so I'll sit and wait for the results.
OP was adamantly against the Parsons pick

States the obvious, but then again, sometimes the obvious needs to be repeated... the after-draft hubris can be so thick among fans who want to esteem themselves as draft experts on the basis of almost zero actual research beyond what they read on a handful of websites.

This was a very boring draft with some picks that seemed like reaches. It may turn out well, but I don’t see where this draft has improved the team much. Dallas actually lost a good bit of ground to the Eagles, 49ers, etc.

Don’t forget the draft picks traded to bring in Cooks, Gilmore, and they retained Hankins as well from a traded draft pick.
That helps the team as well and allows these drafted players time to develop.

I think they did improve their chances.
And I don’t care what SF and Philly did. I still say they lost more than they gained.
We closed the gap. Time to show it on the field we passed them.
I don’t see how you can come to the conclusion that Dallas has closed the gap. This draft can pan out well and they still have lost ground to the Eagles.

DT, RB, and possibly LB should be able to help in a rotation at least. DT can start if needed, RB may have to.

Neutering Hankins and gallimore. Lmaoooooo. Yes the drafting of Mazi is the one thing stopping gallimore from being a good DT.
