Tony Romo is a fantastic fantasy football QB.

I've always defended him. After the Vikings playoff loss. After the Giants. After the Seahawks. I won't defend his performance tonight.

His effort is not in question. His decision making is. I was upset with both Romo and Garrett for the fumble on the goal line.

The throw at the end of the game has made me question my support of Romo. Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating benching him. Romo's good. He's real good.

But I don't believe in him anymore. I don't think he will deliver in the clutch. I'd now be fine with Dallas drafting a young QB to be groomed behind Tony-and then replacing him when he's ready....unless Romo proves he can avoid another final 8 minutes like the one he played tonight.

I love how nobody takes into account that Romo lit up the best D in the league in a game we were supposed to get obliterated in...

Romo's problem he is tends to always make the mistake in the pressure moments.

Yep, he also wins games in pressure moments. Peyton Manning threw TWO INTs to Sean Lee and lossed. Brady? Yep, he has thrown picks and lost too.

Get over it. Nobody is perfect. That **** doesn't exit.

You fools defending Romo is the equivalent of saying his offseason revalations have had an impact. His accuracy sucked in camp and preseasonz. The league sucks.. The refs should retire before they are too embarrassed.

Guess Ben and Matt Ryan suck then...
No, they lost in a blowout!

We're in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes, along with Pitt, Atl, NYG and SF.

In order to win games, your key players have to make big plays. Tonight Romo made 2 big plays for the Jets and they won. In addition, every time he makes a mistake, he acts like it was his recievers fault. That's big time BS. Be a man and show up when your team needs you. Tonight was just more proof that he is not the guy. (as if we needed more proof.)

Experienced players protect the ball.

How many times did we see late in games and Emmitt with the ball and covering it with both hands, protecting it?

Or Irvin?

Players who have been in the league as a starter for six years - and especially skill players - know the most important thing is to protect the ball.

Sandlot creates great plays. The scramble after the recovery against the Rams was wonderful. We all saw that and marveled.

But a skill player that has been around more than a couple of years should know to protect the ball.

How many times have you heard the announcer say they aren't putting a rookie in at crucial times because of the potential to not protect the ball.

This is the crux of why I am always questioning Romo.

He just tries to do too much and at the wrong times he turns the ball over.

Never ceases to amaze me what the cult of Romo is willing to excuse.

People demand accountability all offseason yet when the blame falls on Romo it's back to making excuses

Opps.

Romo is a fantastic QB and normally plays very well. He played well tonight aside from two HUGE mistakes that cost us the game. He does seem to make mistakes at critical times. Still, I'll take him. Personally, I fault Garrett for his play calling. First and goal at the three? RUN THE DAMN BALL!!!!!!!!!!!! He never seems to learn. Likes to get too cute.

That was true tonight, but it hasn't been true at all during his career. His ratings during crunch time going into this season -- in the fourth quarter (101.4 career rating), in close games late in the fourth quarter (101.5) and in the last two minutes of halves (99.0) -- are far better than any other "franchise" quarterback in the league.

Tonight, though, his turnovers in the fourth quarter (and the blocked punt, of course) cost us the game.

It seems that his "crunch time" play has worsened recently. What are his ratings during crunch time since the end of the 2009 season?

First, on the 1 yard line, and we were 7 up still (If I remember correctly), you should run the ball and not trying something crazy.

Second, if you dont run and try to pass, you cant turn the ball over. Romo did, and thats on him.

Third, I still dont understand how he read that bad the play of the INT... Guess Dez run it wrong, and he should be on the field at all... So bad decision on Jason and bad decision on Tony.

Too many mistakes, you lose.

Wrong.

Had the defense not given up 17 points, Dallas would have won.

The defense gift wrapped a win to Romo and he fumbled it away. Just sayin

So you're saying Matt Ryan was better with 0TD 2INT because they got blown out? Seriously?

Why was Dez even in the game at that time? And why was he the top option on that play? I fault JG as much as Romo and Dez for the INT.

Up 14 points and at our opponents 3 with the ball.

We were up by only seven points then, but the gist of your point still stands.

:stupid:

The man made some costly mistakes, but he also lit up the Jets defense that was supposed to be even better this year that ever before. Yep, Romo threw for 340+ yards on a defense that can't be passed on.

Yeah, he made mistakes, but he also lit up both DRC and fired fireworks over Revis Island.

It's always an unpopular opinion, and Romo will always have his supporters, but he's 6 years in as a starter and still the exact same guy making stupid errors when you need him the most.

1. I'm not saying cut him or start either of our other QB's...he's a very good QB, but he shows no sign that he'll ever be a winner...great stat guy, but always a bonehead. He should never run into a tough situation...he's always been a fumbler in contact. And that pass...doesn't matter what he thought Bryant would do...cannot have that happen in that situation.

Funny...the snap he wasn't ready for we used to blame on Gurode..but the whole offense took off, including the receivers...on another 2nd and short, he killed the play with frantic panic and confusion...you have a young OL...just run the freakin' play.

Romo is an above average QB, and we'd stink without him, but why this many years into his career as a starter would anyone think he's actually going to be anything other than what he's shown us all along...nice stat guy who can't get it done.

2. I couldn't be more proud of the rest of the team, every single one of them. OL was far beyond my expectations...how refreshing to see so many times when Romo held the ball and jumped all around frantically, but no holding penalties...WOW. Austin and Bryant before injury were winning battles with the CBs...Felix ran hard. Should have scored even more points if not for Romo...though I have to wonder why Witten didn't put his stiff arm out on DB and get into end zone...weird.

The defense was incredible...yes, they gave up some points and plays when Jenkins was out, playing with 4th and 5th CBs and safeties...but they played their guts out, and I'm so proud of Jenkins for battling and coming back time and again...That neck bend when he led with his head looked like a spinal injury...then the hit by Burris...either of those could have put a guy out for the game...and he was still battling.

3. Bryant looked like he either quit or ran out of gas or was injured...not sure why he was even out there down the stretch the way he looked.

This game was lost for one reason...Romo fumble, almost before even being hit when all we needed was a fg for a 10 pt. lead and that incredible midfield int...

I still love the way he throws the ball and scrambles around, but when you need him most, he's the same Romo he was as a rookie...he's going to give games away that you need to win.

Just my opinion...proud of my Cowboys.

nice I was going to write this same thing... I had hoped that things will finally click with Tony but I no longer believe that is going to happen...I also believe he gave us his all out there just as the whole team did I am very proud of them all.
