Only on this team could 340 yards, 75% completion, 2TDs and a 102passer rating net you not only a loss but 100% of the blame...

the fumble and pick were huge part of the stat sheet too. The part that played a major role in the loss.

Peyton Manning has never thrown a pick in the last minute of a game that was decided by one score (excluding two hail marys on the final play). Never.

Yes, he has.

Every coach knows you play most games for the 3 or 4 plays that decide it. Those are the plays where winners reveal themselves and chokers choke.

Stats are for losers. On 2 plays Tony lost the game. He deserves the blistering criticism. End of story.

People are tired of stats man... what good are all of those stats if said player throws a pick in similiar fashion that he would have done in 2005?

Romo has done this for years.. his stats deflect his blame. IF he wants to be a leader... then he should WANT to take the blame. HE should want to say "man I just didn't do enough".

If we're content with Divsional titles or 9-7 seasons where a win is a win... then let's throw a parade for his 75% completion percentage or the 2 TD's with one being a jump ball that Miles had to wrestle away.

If we want a superbowl, then we gotta start seriosuly expecting more from Romo's position. 6 years in the league, the guy should not still be doing this.

I hate Tony Romo right now, but only because I'm so sad over the loss. I'm sure I will get over it within the next couple hours.

I love Tony Romo, but he makes it so hard to keep defending him.

This is EXACTLY his MO. Great games....great stats....HUGE MISTAKES in the BIG moment. And often, absolutely UGLY gut punch mistakes when they happen (see INT tonight).

Make no mistake. He is a really, really, really good QB. There are only 2 or 3 NFL QB's I'd rather have over him right now. But he needs to start coming through in the clutch to ever be remembered as great.

Right now he's the Danny White of the 2000's.

It goes without saying... Offense wins game... Defense wins Championships!

We have been without a dominant defense for a LONG time! Blame Tony all you want, but without a defense... your going no where. Tony can put up 30, but if your D lets up 31... what's the point.

Romo's mistake sucked but the punt block is the biggest reason we lost the game. That gave up a quick 7 points and we lost field position and the momentum.

If you really want to blame someone for the loss, it should be the special teams and the head coach.

I agree. Still had a 7 point lead until then.

And guess what, if Romo doesn't fumble at the 1 yard line of the Jets or go 3 and out after getting the ball back in great territory, that play would have never happened. Even those wrongs could have been corrected if Tony doesn't do the worst possible thing he could do in a closing situation: throw a pick.

I really hope this loss hits Romo in the ****ing head like a ton of bricks this week and wakes him the hell up. Maybe there can be some silver lining after all. It's all in Romo's hands, assuming the defense isn't atrocious.

A Dominant D is needed too agreed.

However QB play is of equal importance which is saying something since one guy can be as valuable as 11 defenders.

Pittsburgh is great because of their D... but also because Roethelisberger gives them a chance to win just by being smart. The same with the Saints, the Same with the Packers.

Just like it's bad for Tony to score 31, the D give up 32 and we lose. To me it's even worse to have Tony score 31, the D give up 30. And then a variety of improbable plays happen and the other team wins.

That's pretty much how this game went. We lost a handful of games the same way last year too.

We might not can get Romo to score 7 more points a game. We might not can get the D to give up 7 less points a game.. but by geez can't we just stop shooting ourselves in the foot with the stuff we can control? You eliminate all these improbable plays and the Cowboys are 4 wins better instantly.

Who cares. The whole point of playing the game is to win it, not pile up a whole bunch of stats that look good on paper but lose the game. Why can you not understand that? The fact that Romo threw for over 300 yards and completed 75% of passes is not what determines if we make it to the SB or even playoffs. Only the W or L does. And Romo's critical mistakes lead the Cowboys to a L. I don't care if he threw for 785 yards and complete 98% of his passes. If he cost us the game at the end, he deserves the blame.

If I keep expecting different results in a guy that continues to make the same boneheaded errors in the most crucial of time does that make me insane?
