It is a funny play on words, .. I get it.

And if it is on this message board, or among adults or teenagers, it's funny.

I stopped finding bathroom humor very funny once I grew up, but I do see that it is meant to be funny.

But why do we feel the need to put it on TV where 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 yr olds are going to see it, learn it, and say it themselves?

Why are we putting it into every household in America instead of leaving it for adults.

I think we should be protecting our children and keeping them innocent as long as we can, .. until they are old enough to understand and reason.

They will all hear all of that crap soon enough, seems we should be sheltering them from as much as we can for as long as we can until they are a bit more mature.

They don't need to know every adult joke, or pun, at 4 or 5 yrs old.

I don't think we need to splash stuff like that on TV in front of the kids, but like you say, I am just "old and uptight".

Trust me, as you get older and see how things change and detiorate, you will have similar feelings.

I think they should stop lying to kids about Santa Claus. That is my thing, ruining kids with Santa Claus lies is the downfall of society.

So...you leave out the Easter Bunny?

What about him?

I just got a tooth pulled this morning, are you telling me there might not be a Tooth Fairy?

That's a load of bullship. My dad laughed at this and he's 75.

You just have a stick stuck where your ship should be.

So you're good with introducing those kind of words to little kids?

OH NOES! They'll learn how to SHIP packages or about big boats...

What, .. 7th grade bathroom humor?

I hope you don't have small children.

I agree with you that it is sad that adults find humor in this, but kids always will.

We don't have to protect them from this. they are going to laugh at flatulence noises and other bathroom behavior regardless of how much we wish they wouldn't.

This was the main tone of my post.. like you said, im not really concerned with how it will impact children, because if they know what the commercial is implying, then they've already heard the word numerous times already. Its not really about taking away children's innocence and introducing them to inappropriate words.. its about how simple minded adults have gotten that some actually find this to be humorous.

lmao, wasn't expecting that at all.:laugh2:

Some irony about this thread.... Most of the discussion is about kids learning swear words from K-mart commercials. I learned the F word in a K-Mart bathroom stall. I was 4. Sad irony I suppose lol.

That was quite funny.

If there is any concern, it's that adult not having the mental capacity to teach their kids about the word ship. Stupid ships!

The commercial is awful and not funny. Just like "Booking dot com" commercial and the Joes Crabshack "TAKE YOUR TOP OFF" commercials.

Very low brow humor, and not really amusing, funny, or intelligent.

HAHA SHIP, it's like they are saying the S word!!!!!!!!

That aside, there is nothing wrong with the commercial. Some of the reactions in this thread blow my mind.

As if commercials like these could do damage to children.. just wow.

To this day I've never understood how knowing swear words could do any damage to a child. Nor do I know any children who don't know all the swear words already, regardless of whether or not they use them.

Keep them innocent? How can them hearing a swear word hurt their innocence? could you explain the logic? Give examples? Can you please define "innocence" in this context, and explain what exactly is lost? I simply cannot fathom that mind set.

Right. Swear words don't damage children. Bad parenting does.

This thread has done exactly what the advertiser wanted. People are talking about a silly ad that is a play on words. It may offend or amuse, but either way, it got your attention.

Maybe, but it won't make me shop K-Mart, which is the ultimate purpose of advertising.

Ohhhh, tell the truth WV. You weren't likely to be shopping at a K-Mart anyway.

That would mean you having to put on shoes and wear a shirt under your "Sunday-go-to-meetin" overalls! :banjo: :p:
