I lost a great deal of respect for Payton Manning because I saw nothing but a crybaby on the sidelines - complaining and not leading in a game where his leadership was needed the most.

Manning’s team responded in-kind and QB-Superman started to look like Clark Kent, and throwing like him too, real fast.

What I once viewed as an elite QB revealed himself to me as just another above-average player that is a product of the great supporting cast around him. The mastermind turned mentally challenged.

On top of that, his crybaby antics carried over to the post game; Manning shook no opponents' hands. He just quickly dashed/disappeared into his own locker room, kind of like a bully does with shame, after getting his *** kicked by the scrawny kid he was harassing.

I expect more from a QB that everyone touts as the best of all time and an ambassador of the game. Manning proved to me that he is neither.

I don't remember much of the game, but I'm going to go ahead and give anyone who's just lost a Super Bowl a pass on meaningless acts of sportsmanship.

The end of the superbowl is chaos. Just trying to find the opposing teams QB can take 20 minutes. I don't blame him.

For all we know they may of had an agreement saying, "whoever loses, don't bother looking for the other guy, congrats, but i'm just going to go into the locker room and let you celebrate".

Manning, Wayne skipped post-game handshakes

Posted by Michael David Smith on February 8, 2010 7:25 AM ET

The key play in the Indianapolis Colts' Super Bowl XLIV loss was the interception that Peyton Manning threw on a pass intended for Reggie Wayne.

And so it's no surprise that Manning and Wayne weren't in particularly good spirits after the game, and that they went straight to the locker room instead of sticking around on the field afterward to offer post-game handshakes to the Saints.

But while it may not be surprising, Manning has been accused of "poor sportsmanship" for going to the leaving the field before offering congratulations to the Saints. And Wayne said he may have gotten to the locker room even more quickly than Manning.

"I didn't even watch them celebrate,'' Wayne said. "I was one of the first ones in the locker room. They're probably still out there. That's the way it goes when you win the Super Bowl. You stay out there. When you lose, you go to the locker room.''

Manning didn't give a post-game hug to Saints quarterback Drew Brees, but he said he'd call Brees to say congratulations.

"The stage is being set up for the celebration and it was time for the Saints to celebrate at midfield," Manning said. "They deserved the moment.''

The Mannings have always been known as babies when things aren't going their way

Remember back a couple of years ago when they were undefeated and we beat them? Remember him just whining and crying on the sidelines AND on the field? He's ALWAYS been this way.

I saw nothing that would make me lose respect for Manning. The moment belonged to the Saints

Even an article about it? If you like a guy, his antics on the sideline are 'fire and passion' and exhorting his team mates. If you don't, it's 'whining'.

Jeez, if anyone is whining it's the people micro-scrutinizing every aspect to find fault and making a stink over something so insignificant.

Manning is the best QB of this era, not following 'protocol' after losing doesn't change a thing.

Brees says Manning reached out after game

Posted by Michael David Smith on February 8, 2010 1:18 PM ET

We noted this morning that Colts quarterback Peyton Manning went straight to the locker room following Super Bowl XLIV, rather than staying on the field and shaking hands with Saints players.

Saints quarterback Drew Brees says he was OK with that, because the field became a mob scene after the game.

"After that game was over it immediately became kind of a free for all," Brees said today on ESPNews. "I was trying to find him and I know that he was trying to find me, but it was too much of a crazy crowd."

Brees said that Manning contacted him by phone late Sunday night.

"I was able to talk to him after the game, just text messaging," Brees said. "Obviously, I have a lot of respect for him and I know that he was definitely congratulatory toward our team."

Brees doesn't think anyone should interpret Manning going straight to the locker room as a slight.

"Peyton's a class guy," Brees said. "He definitely reached out."

Give the guy a pass...he just lost the biggest game of the year, and one of the biggest of his career.

I don't blame him one bit...

Can not stand any Peyton or Elisha Manning. I was too young when Archie Manning played. Painful to watch Peyton play QB with all of his bluff signals and just herky jerky movements and happy feet. hate his mechanics. Not that bright either. Don't think he's smarter than Brady, Romo, Brees, Rivers etc.

Manning is generally a class act. I have no idea what planet this OP was written from...but it sets a new standard for overreactions.

All I recall is Manning giving credit repeatedly to the Saints, Saints fans, Saints coaches, Brees, and Tracy Porter. I'm sure the guy was heart-broken so I would not expect some chipper, aweshucks, garbage from him.

Just let the dude lose in peace.

Uhhhh WHAT!?:bang2: :laugh2:
You can look in the mirror with that comment. He's a freaking computer on the field and you say he's not very bright?
Unbelievable.
You may want to re-think that commment. :)

Also, every single one of your football related QB comments are wrong. No, not happy feet...he was taught to do it that way for mutilple reasons. Poor passing form...good grief man, are you nuts? He has great form. And the herky jerky part is (in part) to keep the defenses confused. Ask anone playing against him and you'll know that he is outragiously effective and their worst nightmare.

If you visually just don't like to watch him, that's cool. But that is just you personal taste, not his problems.

Having said that, I'm happy for Brees and the Saints and I wanted them to win.

Are you serious? Manning not bright?

He pretty much runs that offense and is the most prepared QB in the league. He's also one of the best, if not THE best at reading defenses and and audibling into successful new plays.

If you don't like Manning, that's fine and it's certainly your perogative, but don't make silly statements that "he's not bright."
