That was not my point. If shaking his hand meant respect or disrespect to Brees or Payton personally, I would say yes, do it. But overall in the real (not superficial world) that we live in, it did not. He gave those guys all kinds of respect and even went beyond that by contacting them after the game. They were not offended, so why should we be? If the tables were turned, Manning, I'm sure, would not have been offended either.
My point was, just because it looks good to you (or, actually me too) for him to do it does not mean it's right or wrong to those involved. In other words, he's not going to do it just to make you personally happy...it would have not value at all then (hebce style over substance).
