I lost a great deal of respect for Payton Manning

I could care less about respect or whatever for Manning...but he should have shook Brees' hand after the game.

I don't want to hear all of the BS of he didn't have time or whatever...it takes a few seconds.

Manning is a great player no doubt...but he sure does come off as a baby when things don't go his way.

I saw nothing that would make me lose respect for Manning. The moment belonged to the Saints

Ditto.....

It was the Saints Stage that night.

It was Peyton biggest loss of his football life. No surprise he was disappointed/ticked. I would be too. Especially if I felt I game them the game at the end with a pick 6.

It was the Saints time at the end. They get the stage. They deserve it. They earned it. So what if they didn't meet on the field. Brees and Manning connected afterward. Good enough.

This is completely overblown.

I don't remember much of the game, but I'm going to go ahead and give anyone who's just lost a Super Bowl a pass on meaningless acts of sportsmanship.

I have to agree with you. Many fans act like players are superhuman and aren't affected by the same things normal people are.

But I don't think most fans understand the devastating emotions that come from losing a game. And then to have millions of people watching you.

Like most average people, sometimes you need to withdraw and collect yourself before you reengage. Otherwise, you're liable to say something you regret.

Should Manning have stayed to congratulate Brees? Yes.

But is it the sign of ultimate disrespect and unsportsmanlike conduct? No.

Can not stand any Peyton or Elisha Manning. I was too young when Archie Manning played. Painful to watch Peyton play QB with all of his bluff signals and just herky jerky movements and happy feet. hate his mechanics. Not that bright either. Don't think he's smarter than Brady, Romo, Brees, Rivers etc.

Seems I recall Romo, Brady, Brees and Rivers have made dumb interceptions too.

Wow.

Forgive Peyton Manning for not being perfect.

That wins today's dumbest post award as regards to summing up a player.

Staubach lost TWO Super Bowls to the Steelers...no less crushing than this defeat.

Did he fail to shake Bradshaw's hand?

1. Staubach is not Peyton.

2. The Super Bowl wasn't as big then as it is now.

3. Staubach wasn't the subject of "Who is the Greatest Quarterback of All Time" arguments, increasing the pressure on him.

4. Staubach didn't grow up under the immense media pressure of this modern society with instant feedback, instant message, instant chat and everybody and his grandmother giving their uninformed opinion about what you should have done and why you suck because you don't shake another quarterback's hand right after the game.

5. I don't think they awarded the trophy to the winning team on the field but in the locker room. It was less pandemonium then as it is today.

I always thought the NFL told the Superbowl losers to get off the field quickly?

I guess all of y'all supported LeBron when he walked off the court and sent Dwight Howard a text message later huh?

Peyton was pissed but he still should have shown some class and try to find some of the NO players, I mean it's only 53 of them.

Peyton choked in the biggest moment not only did he throw the pick 6, he threw 2 other passes that could have been intercepted during the final 3 minutes or so.

To have the stats that he has he should have more SB wins and apperances. Peyton has lost big games against SD twice, Pittsburgh, and now NO when his team were favored to win and the first 3 were at home. Not only did his team lose but he played bad or not up to his regular season standard.

The SB that he did win he wasn't outstanding against a taylor made opponent. I think if the Cowboys get past Seattle then we beat Chicago the next week. Chicago had to be one of the worst SB teams ever. Their offense was just putrid.

As of now Peyton is the best regular season QB to ever play but the postseason is where your reputation is cemented.

Remember that Tennessee didn't win a national championship until the season after Peyton went to the pros.

It's still a Super Bowl win.

Please, let the hate go. It will make you rest easier at night. :)

Wow! Manning has been a class act and he gets THIS?

Geez.

No, Manning has only been portrayed as a class act, but it's evident now that he is not. So yes, NOW he gets THIS!

AND BY THE WAY...

This is not about the handshake per se, or his demeanor after losing the Super Bowl. It's more about his demeanor DURING THE GAME. As the Colts were being challenged, Manning sat there with sour grapes on his face, as early as THE THIRD QUARTER BEFORE THE GAME WAS OVER. Instead of being a leader, he actet like a LITTLE PRISS, looking down on his teammates. His team needed him to step us as the leader he is prtrayed to be. Instead, he PROVED to not be that player - when the going got tough, Manning FOLDED.

It was not the spectacle it is now, I attended a SB for 35 dollars a ticket in 1976 good luck going to that game now. Back then you had 3 networks now you many more in the media who are covering the game it has grown over the years.

Some of you need to see his post game interview, .. nothing but class.

You can say you don't like him, that's fine, .. but leave it at that.

When you try to come up with reasons that aren't there, you sound pathetic and small.
