I don't see this happening either but I did hear an interesting interview this AM. Guy was saying that NE may not be interested in signing Moss long term. Said they would probably consider another year or two but not a long term deal. Said Moss becomes a HC when he has security and that they would rather deal with Moss year to year because it gives them leverage. Now, I don't know if this is true or not but I do believe that if NE decided to take this approach, Moss would probably leave for a more secure contract.

That is what I've been thinking. The key is whether another team will be willing to offer him a long term lucrative deal. If so, that puts the Pats in a spot they don't like to be in.

Can the Pats franchise him?

Randy Moss changed the dimension of that whole offense. If Randy Moss leaves the Patriots, you can be damn sure that they will drop into average way quicker than they would with an aging Randy Moss. The only reason the Patriots were successful was because teams were dropping so many men back in coverage to stop him.

This allowed the offensive line to give Brady plenty of time, and even when they weren't, the Patriots adjusted and just dinked-and-dunked with Wes Walker in a field that was already stacked to protect against the deep ball. The Giants were beasting out short, and they were hitting Wes Welker at the line. Look at how Jacksonville played the Patriots.

They were so scared of the deep ball, they simply allowed Welker space in the zone.

That's another good point. It's not just aobut getting better for Dalals but putting themselves in better position against likely playoof (or SuperBowl) opponents. The Patriots are likely going to stay competitive if htey remain in tact; so if Dallas improves by signing Moss, it would weaken the Patriots and thus Dallas will have made improvements on both an absolute and relatively-competitive sense. Moss was also alot for defenses in our division to handle and he proved that in 2007.

I wouldn't be against it but it isn't going to happen. Moss has already stated he wants to finish his career in New England.

New England will sign him before free agency even starts.

Good thoughts, just will not happen.

Yes, they actually can tag him. Rather they will or not is a different matter, but they could.

I predict pure misery for theebs if that were to ever happen.

You're not the only one. :)

Please no to the head case WRs like Moss or Chad Johnson.

BTW, I don't know how people can act like it's a certainty Moss will stay in New England. I think he'll go to the highest bidder.

Not if he has a no-tag clause in his current contract, and many high profile players do. I don't know if he does or not, but it would be interesting to know.

I cant wait for the day moss just goes away.

I really dont care where he is next year as long as it is not in Irving for the last season ever at the stadium.

we will not sign Randy Moss

but since we are making predictions:

I predict that as soon as the media even speculates this might happen at least 5 members of this forum will say "if Moss is signed i will never buy cowboys merchandise, I will not be a cowboys fan, or JJ is destroying the team"

not saying I will but some will

I don't think it happens. But Jerry did go out and steal Deion Sanders from the 49ers so anything's possible.

I remember seeing it mentioned that they could franchise him cause he does not have that in his contract. I dont know how accurate that is but I have heard it on sports shows that he in fact could be tagged.

Judging from his interviews, Moss is sounding slightly less and less like he's gonna be a Patriot.

His quote after the game "I would love to be in a New England Patriot uniform but, if not, the show must go on,"

You know how cheap the Pats are with paying their players and with the kind of price tag he's gonna demand with this season, nothing's certain.

I predict someone will lose their mind and start a thread whereby they make the bold and foolish prediction that we will sign Randy Moss this offseason.

Or that someone will say Patrick Crayton is a legit number two or an overpaid number three wide receiver.

I think if Jerry Jones thought it would put his team over the top, along with som of the other moves he'll make this offseason, he'd be incline to sign Moss. As Cowboys fans, most of us appreciate his willingness to make this team competitive for championships, but his accumen as a business man first, shouldn't be overlooked because he's gonna want to go into the new stadium in 2009 with a team that just won a Super Bowl (2008), or is a favored to win it this season (2009). It'd be a pretty neat way to sell a lot of those high dollar seats.

Since you guys can't figure out whether Moss will leave or whatever, lets ask the GREATNESS of "Magic 8 Ball":

Judging by the results of the Magic 8 Ball over the 2007 season, I would say chances are good Moss is gone from NE...

If Jerry were to sign Moss, consisder us a blockbuster franchise. All sportscenters will begain and end with the Cowboys.

It would be Super Bowl or bust. And BTW, if we don't get this defense up to dominant status, doesn't matter who we have on offense, they'll just outscore us.

We are in bad need of secondary depth and maybe another person or two on the DL just for some fresh bodies to bring in and make plays, so i agree with this a lot.

New England got Moss at street value (so to speak), I don't see them all of a sudden rolling out billions to keep an older receiver, plus they've thrown their best shot with the best talent in the NFL and it wasn't enough, they may go another route.
