I can’t believe someone posted a thread hoping the Cowboys lose before going to the playoffs. Sometimes I think Stephen A. Smith is right about our fan base. The Cowboys will play a tough team in the playoffs it does not matter if we win the rest of our games or not. The Cowboys will have a good chance to beat that playoff opponent as well. No matter if the Cowboys win or lose in the playoffs the media is gonna find something wrong. Enjoy the ride we our 10-3 and play four solid football teams to end the season.

Nobody is "hoping" for any such thing. Just thinking out loud about how this team has shown itself to operate. Until they show me the emotional maturity to handle being the hunted heading in the playoffs and having the entire football media universe camped out at the Star I don't want them in that role. Maybe THIS group will pull it together and shake off the tendency to get too full of themselves when they start rollin. But I will have to see it to believe it.

So long as it's not to the Eagles..

I still maintain that this team lacks the emotional maturity to go into the playoffs on an 8 game win streak. I'd much rather they drop one somewhere along the way to help them refocus. And perhaps more importantly to get the media off their nuts.

you might get 3 in a row

If it takes a loss to light a fire under the team I blame the coaches.
But I think ultimately it's Jerry interfering that causes the situation to be this way.
(Zeke, and Jerry saying he would have been lenient)

No team or players has to deal with the crap the Cowboys deal with. I don’t think one talking head predicted the Cowboys to make the playoffs let alone win 10 games but Michael Irvin. The Cowboys have actually over achieved. I am enjoying the ride. They may lose in the first round they may go to the Super Bowl. I will enjoy the ride either way. Similar to 2016 when the Cowboys were predicted to finish last in the East but got the number 1 seed in the East.

Silly. Getting spanked at home creates nothing but doubt in the minds of these kids.
If they have the gumption to win a championship, it may fire them up.

We are going to need to go on a big time roll and be playing top of the line football in order to win three consecutive road playoff games.

They are likely to need some sort of edge to make that happen. Maybe it’s that. Maybe it doesn’t happen, don’t know…..what I DO know is when it gets into their heads that they are all good, they get punched in the mouth soon there after. Maybe that mojo changes finally.

WTH? Are you cereal? What kind of mindset is that?

I got an idea, Sarge! Let's go up Monkey Mountain searching for the Vietcong and if we engage them without ROE lets lose some of our squad so that the next time we will have some experience and kill all of them next time.

Great idea, 5Stars...I am now going to recommend an Dishonorable Discharge for you.

Or, hell, lets just lose all our remaining games! That should motivate them!

Let's not get carried away.. I'm just thinkin out loud that maybe ONE more loss might help their focus. No one WANTS it to be that way.. but I'm just accepting the possibility that it IS that way.

you don't think Houston should effectively assume that role?
The Houston game teaches the best of lessons. To learn you can't take anyone lightly, and still get away with the W. That's a win-win

Are you the kind of guy who thinks that the coin will never flip heads because if flipped heads the previous four times in a row?….

…because “ it’s impossible to flip five heads in a row“

I can only go by what they've shown me in the past, man. Every time they've run off a series of wins and the media starts hypin them up they've come out flat the next game. Like clockwork. So maybe what I am hoping for is a series of "unimpressive" wins down the stretch. A last second FG to beat JAX. A tight one against Philly.. Another nail biter at the Titans and then a slugfest against the Commandos? That way they DON'T lose any more.. but they don't get the "Oh my god the Cowboys are unstoppable" hype either.. Maybe that's what the doctor ordered.

Coins are not human beings.. They don't care if you hype them up after flipping heads 50 times in a row or 500 times in a row. People on the other hand, athletes in particular, can and will get the big head when they have success and start believing their own press clippings. I've seen enough of this group to know they have fallen victim to it on more than one occasion.

Pretty sure we went in on a roll in 2009, 2014, 2016, 2018 and lost each year in the same round. You are who you are come playoff time. We also limped in for the 2007 season and also lost same round as all the years I mentioned. The streak you are on going on really doesn't mean much. The better teams come playoff time usually win out as the playoffs go on.

Until Dallas' defense actually shows up come playoff time outside of the wild card round, we will go nowhere. Go back to every single divisional round loss since the Super Bowl winning era. Each time, defense has been garbage to say the least.

You need to recheck your history because you got it all wrong. The Cowboys entered the playoffs in 2009 after winning 3 straight games, resulting in a wildcard win over Philly. They entered the 2014 playoffs with 4 straight wins, resulting in a wildcard win over Detroit. In 2016 they looked like crap against Philly in the season finale playing their starters for a half resulting in a loss. They ended up going one and done that season. The Cowboys entered the 2018 playoffs winning two straight games including 7 of their last 8 games. That led to a wildcard win over Seattle. The Cowboys clearly limped into the playoffs in 2007 losing two of their last three regular season games. That led to a one and done against the Giants. How you’re playing entering the playoffs has a big influence on how you’ll do in the playoffs. When the Cowboys have entered the playoffs on a high note it led to a playoff win.

This will happen organically. If the Jags don't do it this week, the Eagles may do it.

The game I've circled is the game against Washington to end the season. You know at this point, a lot will be on the line for them, and they will throw the kitchen sink at us.

I think Houston game served as a wakeup call. Cowboys have 4 games left I want to see them getting after teams. Only exception in my view is the last game of the season, is there something we are actually playing for that is as important as health.
A first round bye is worth playing for. I don't think it's ever a good idea to take your foot off the gas so close to the playoffs, especially with a few key guys injured.

I understand your thoughts, it just does not make sense for me...maybe it's the Military mind, never give up the battle. lol.

In another thought, I actually hate thinking like this but I do believe the eagles are going to beat the hell out of these Cowboys, and if I'm wrong I will buy you a brand new Corvette of your choice.

I will say heading into the last game of the season should all seeding be done, then I would take health into account. I'm not going to play guys dealing with injuries when I know the following week they will be playing. Now if we are in a position to get a bye you bet I would play all hands on deck.

My guess would be the Titans. Coming off a short week after playing the Eagles will be tough. But honestly if we lost to the Eagles I wouldn't panic. The pressure will be on the Eagles and we are more mature than the Eagles are. I'd rather be the underdog then the favorite. We seem to be more focused and on our game when we're the underdogs. Eagles, especially Hurts and new coach, will have to deal with the pressure of being the favorite and again I feel they are way more immature than us.
