Schottenheimer was the OC of Seattle from 2018-2021 with Russell Wilson as his QB.

He definitely wants to get a mobile QB for hos style of offense that runs a lot of play action.

It will be interesting to see how Lance plays out and it sort of gives the Cowboys a chance to move on from Dak after this season.
For what, to wash his car or something as he isn't a good QB at all...sees the field worse than Dak...

I doubt they would disagree about right now but he wasn’t acquired for right now. He’s very raw and that alone means we won’t know what he’s capable of anytime soon
This is the type of move that Jerry has refused to do since even going back to Aikman. Which is make a move for a talented young QB while you have a franchise QB on the roster.

Has to be the MM affect.

Maybe so. But at the same time, if I was dak, I would stop sitting over there on the bench sulking when things aren't going his way. As if he didn't have a care in the world. Guess what Bud. Now he can start worrying. I love it. The clock is ticking on down. Can you hear it?

I trust John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan
If others thought they were totally off base he would have been available for more than a 4th rounder. So yeah the odds of him becoming a superstar are unlikely, but he's 23, barely has played much football. But who knows maybe with the right coaching in the right system he can make strides. We'll see, but I think its worth the low risk gamble.

Trey Lance could not beat out Sam Darnold for the backup QB job. Lets be very clear about this: the coaches who saw every throw Lance ever made and every decision he made as a pro thought he was worse than Sam Darnold.
I believe Darnold beat us a couple years ago.

LOL at anyone who doesn't think this was 100 percent Jerry. I hate the old drunk clown but I can live with this. The 40 million dollar princess may not be as safe as we all thought.

It figures Schottenheimer was behind this trade for Lance. Bad move. Lance sucks. He makes Cooper Rush look like a top 10 QB. Even Will Grier is better than Lance right now.
So much excitement for the 3rd Overall Pick whom lost Camp battle to Mr. Irrelevant Purdy and 6th Sense Darnold...

Considering how little football he has played since HS and not even for a power DI school, I never understood why he was a 1st rd talent. He only had 1 year of college games.
Talent..

All first rounders are picked based on upside.

Trey Lance has rare ability.

Lance has rare talent, is young, and we gave up nothing for him.

Cowboys fans should be ecstatic right now for this potential.

His biggest problem is he’s barely played.

Given the lack of experience, it wasn't talent. It was potential talent with athleticism. But you have a lot of 1st rd busts that fit into this category.

The move for Trey Lance, gives them little chance of moving on from Dak after this season, unless he were to get injured and Lance is given an opportunity and plays well. He just arrived so I’m not sure how much of an opportunity he would get if Dak were to get injured. Backup QBs don’t get many reps during the season. He would have a tough time having success missing training camp and preseason with the Cowboys.
