Schottenheimer was the OC of Seattle from 2018-2021 with Russell Wilson as his QB.

He definitely wants to get a mobile QB for hos style of offense that runs a lot of play action.

It will be interesting to see how Lance plays out and it sort of gives the Cowboys a chance to move on from Dak after this season.
Don't see Lance taking that kind of step up in one season...

If you are not willing to scrap you pet playbook and create something to suit then this is a waste of time. I hope we are willing if given the chance.

It figures Schottenheimer was behind this trade for Lance. Bad move. Lance sucks. He makes Cooper Rush look like a top 10 QB. Even Will Grier is better than Lance right now.
I respect your opinion but I'm going to disagree with you on this.

Lance is more talented than Grier and Rush put together. I think injuries and not getting a real chance didn't help Lance. On top of that it seems 49ers getting office and coaches were split on wanting Lance.... That can lead to negative outcomes.

It's possible that Lance doesn't do anything and can't develop but he has shown flashes against NFL talent. I'm my broken opinion, a 4th round pick isn't terrible for that high of a reward, especially at QB.

Sure, they're going to move on from Dak after this season and eat $62 million in dead cap next year.

I think Schottenheimer’s job will be to develop him but Jerry saw in opportunity he could not pass on. This will be the number 1 news story next week unless Taylor is traded. Also will be leverage against Dak. A fourth round pick is peanuts for Lance.

He’s 23 with little experience.

We got a first round talent that we can develop with no pressure for nothing.
I remember us all discussing Lance in Draft Zone during the 2021 offseason. Looking forward to seeing him in the Cowboys offense. Most naturally talented quarterback we have had since Aikman.

Can we actually eat Dak’s cap hit next season and still field a team? I guess we would loose Steele but CeeDee and Parsons would still be under contract even if we hold off on extension for them until 2025.

I don't agree here, at all. Baptism of fire creates a soldier. Sometimes, that applies to quarterbacks as well. Eye opening if he is brought along just as was Romo.

If someone wants trey to work.
That kid needs to stay on the bench during games
Wear a seat out in the film room
Have a Coach in his ear all day every day

In other words if he has a chance it is going to take some time and a lot of dedication.

Right now on his best day he is not going to beat out Dak.

If Dak leaves without a new contract, it is because it is about money or serious injury.
It is not about this kid beating him out this season.

If you want to be labeled a realist...be realistic.

This kid needs time if he is ever going to make it
Give this good kid the time and chances to just grow...

Move on after this season? BWAAAAAAA!!!!!

You are going to be very disappointed. Lance has about 3 years to develop at his own pace. Lets not rush the kid. He needs a lot of work and time.

QB3 is strictly a developmental position.
Obviously Greer wasn't the guy.
This kid has to have something going for him, haven't seen enough of him to have a opinion.

This trade has wild catter Jerry written all over it.

Just saying, but isn't that kind of what we've been told this new Texas Coast offense will be?
No. I don't see Dak running the ball at all. Think of the Philly offense. That's the offense Trey Lance needs. Our new offense shouldn't look anything like it.

He got a big chance. They actually handed him the starting job last year. He got hurt, but its abundantly clear the kid isn't ready to read NFL defenses. He needs lots of work and time to develop where there isn't the pressure.

I like the low cost move, but we need to give this kid the time he needs.
100 percent, so young and raw, just has not played a lot of football.

People on here are losing their minds but if the giants or eagles had done this they would be saying the opposite.

4th rounder for a 1st round pick that needs time to develop, is still extremely young and cheap, knowing full well thete will be a couple comp picks coming next year that will help soften the cost
