I honestly have no idea what Dak really is as a player, but I do think he is a good person and aims to improve. He's really been hit or miss since the ankle injury.
Problem is, I think he's in the worst possible place to succeed in the NFL. If Tom Brady can take preseason snaps to prepare for the season, any QB should be taking those same snaps. In Dallas, Jerry has this misguided idea that it's "too risky" to play in the preseason and as a consequence their players aren't ready for week 1. Dez used to get the same treatment, Zeke gets it, Micah gets it, CeeDee is getting it. Morris Claiborne used to milk the hell out of it. I think at one point the guy only had like 1 or 2 preseason games played in like his first 3 years.
Dak will see the 2023 season because his dead money is far too high to absorb. And once again, this is why you do not restructure contracts. It is the dumbest thing you can possibly do because it pushes their break even cut point further out, and future performance is never guaranteed while cap dollars are. I have said it for years, performance naturally declines with age and you are committing cap dollars to years when the player is older. What's the benefit?
