We could go 2-14 also.
But more like 7-9 to 9-7.
Both good enough for Garrett to keep his job in the eyes of Jerry.
Jerry is old and is not going to start over with another coach. That is a good part of the reason he has not changed garrett out but has stripped him of his gameday duties, it's like changing out the coach without changing out the coach. Firing Scott Linehan was a big indictment on Garrett.
I can't see Garrett getting fired unless the wheels come off like 2015 again. I also think if he is fired he will probably be high in the mix for the job in Atlanta and maybe even the jets or the bengals if they make quick changes there.
Since we don't have a general manager where they would typically have long careers and a lot of interaction with other coaching staffs I am scared to think who they would even hire. All of Jerry's close buddies are out of the league. Mike Shanahan, Mike Holmgren etc. He really doesn't have any connection to any coach or any coaching tree that exists anymore. Again, since we don't have a general manager there is no one with those types of relationships you usually have.
Will McClay's whole career has been in Dallas with the arena team or in Dallas scouting department sans a few minutes with the jaguars essentially.
I Personally would hire Ron Rivera the second he his fired in Carolina if that happens this year, then let him find his own coaches. The man can coach defense and that has been the achilles heel here for years and years. Also, Lovie Smith could always be an option and since Marinelli always speaks highly of the Jones Family that could be a real candidate, you can keep the same defense and go from there.
none of this is going to happen though because Garrett is going nowhere. Marinelli is probably going to retire anyway so that will be the offseason selling point.
