I want Norv Turner as HC

So how many chances do you think Norv needs? He's had two HC jobs, a total of 9 years and the most he ever did was win one wildcard game.

Oakland doesn't count? Well, weren't they in the Super Bowl in 2002? How can that be ifno one can win there?

One Wild Card win is one more playoff win than the great Bill Parcells had here in 4 years.

I'll take a Wild Card win right now, wouldn't you?

I'm suggesting that no one thought Belichick was Belichick after the Browns and after his first year in New England. Would you dispute that?

No...however, just because a circumstance worked for one thing does not automatically make it work for another circumstance...

Take the Jimester for example...what did he do in Miami?

If Belichick can succeed in his second try, that means Norv needs unlimited opportunities

How about a 2nd opportunity with the Dallas Cowboys. I'll go for that. That was the point of my post. And now, despite two false starts I must be off. :)

See you guys later this evening and I'll check in to see how you have destroyed Norv :) ;)

and one wildcard win is significantly less than the 2 Super Bowls BP won before coming to Dallas

and if he would have went to the Pats and failed miserably like Norv did his second chance nobody would be hiring him either, If That horrible record in Wash and Oak belonged to anyone other than a coach from our 90's teams, 95% of this forum would be against hiring him

BP's tenure didn't go the way most wanted. But I guarantee you, if Norv had came here four years ago after we just finished our third straight 5-11 season, we wouldn't have just completed our third winning season in the last four years.

And what makes you so sure that just because Norv won 1 wildcard game in 9 years as a HC that he will do that or more here?

1 wildcard win in the next 9 years?...I think I'll aim a little higher.

Dizzamn, and I thought you had it with Parcells.....

I know Aikman supports it and all - but if you want Norv here...

Welcome to crazy town - population you and Troy.

So if Bill stayed here three more years and only won one wildcard game, he would have had a successful tenure here?

I don't want Turner.
Two points in his favor, however, are how much he really helped Alex Smith this year, who looked absolutely awful the year before Turner arrived as HC. Continuing improvement for Tony Romo is a very high priority for next year.

The second point, and maybe only I find this interesting, is that Turner was Jeff Fisher's position coach at USC. If Fisher really is available next year, and somehow Turner was willing to step back to OC for a year, or help Garrett enough in the meantime to step into that role, we'd have a heck of a coaching staff in 2008.

Belichik gets a bad rap for Cleveland but he wasnt doing a bad job there until Modell pulled the team out from under him and announced they were moving to Balt. They then went on to lose like 7 of their last 8 and he was done. The year before they were 11-5 , beat probably our best Cowboy team ever, and beat Parcells in the playoffs.

1. I actually think he is a good coach. Period. OC or HC doesn't matter to me. Good coaching is good coaching and Turner is a good coach.

He has a .412 coaching record...

Yup...

Good coach...

I see a lot of posts saying that people are "praying" that Turner isn't the guy. I thought I would just say that there are some of us who actually think he would make a very good choice. I'm one of those. Why?

1. I actually think he is a good coach. Period. OC or HC doesn't matter to me. Good coaching is good coaching and Turner is a good coach.

2. He connects us to the best times we have had as a franchise (in recent history). I like that. I got really tired of New York Giants stories.
3. I think he will help Romo AND Garrett in their maturation. That is a good thing.

4. I think he represents a connection with past PLAYERS who will begin to emerge again and have some influence on the current guys. I like that. Instead of Jim Burt hanging around the team, how about some of our guys?

I'm sure there are other good reasons, but I'm headed out the door and these are off the top of my head. But I thought I would just represent for those of us who want Norv Turner.

I'm one. No Phillips. No Rex Ryan. No Rivera. Bring back Norv.

that right there will be automatic Sbs. He can tell stories.
Just like Garrett is the next big thing. His dady said so.:D

You might as well change the name of this topic to "I dont want to win football games, I just want to remember when we were a relevant team in the NFL."

We have the offensive mind in Garrett.. Now we need a defensive head coach, that will tear teams down and rip their organs out.

:lmao2::lmao::laugh2:

This reminds me of when Henson came to town!

For the Young buck I understand why they do not care for the connection to the past...

When Jimmy was Hired I was one of those young bucks who was glad to see Landry gone... I didnt care if Jerry didnt tell Landry he was fired, I cared about Jimmy making the Boys a Dynasty!

Now I'm on the other side... I saw my Boys win more than I could ever imagine now I just want the team to play hard and give me some entertainment!

For the rest of u who want SUPER BOWLS... They come when u least expect them!

Has the word pedigree been thrown out there yet?:lmao:

rcaldw, that is just foolishness. I know you know better than that. It's like saying quarterback is just one another position on the field like guard or safety.

Ok boys, I can stand all the "hee hawing" :), just remember what side of this line we were on if he comes to town. I don't want any bandwagoning once we start winning. And, just like I've done in the past, I'll admit I'm wrong if I'm wrong. Will you be as honest if you are wrong? :)
