I Won't Lie. I'm Still Mostly Checked Out Because of Last Year

Bob come on. Eberflus is a good coach. That defensive roster was absolutely garbage. He got scarfed up by SF. He is a respected guy. He got the same treatment as Zimmer. Zero talent to work with. Zero culture. No tools but go build a house. Last year was 100 pct on the front office.
Eber sucked just as much as the players did. It was a complete ish show from top to bottom.

Yet one of the best franchises scarfed him right up. I will make a prediction...he will get another DC job and do really well. Shottenheimer is never be an NFL head coach again after they fire him. That's my prediction.

I hope you eat those words. Not saying that to disrespect you. Just hope that Schott works out and we’re not wasting time. And Eber sucks now. No one will touch him with shazazz’s ten foot pole ever again. That’s why he isn’t a DC right now He just has some buddies over in NorCal. LOL

I still don’t trust the Jones’ and likely never will.

But I feel different about this season at least.

I knew the cowboys weren’t going to be a good team the last two seasons. I expected nothing both years.

It’s different this year. I do
Think they did a good job this offseason and the team can be a playoff team.

The NFL hands out assistant HC jobs to buds? Come on. I hope I am wrong about Shottenheimer too. He has zero excuses this season.

Shabazz has a 10 foot pole? Hey now...

That's how I'm able to just stay more steady less emotional less highs and lows and just more in the middle because I've come to grips with sports is a one year one off week to week affair and you've got to put it behind you when the new year starts.

I get people's frustration but I also have bigger perspective i've seen longer droughts all over football I've seen way longer droughts in other sports and I know the other 3 DFW teams that I follow not as hardcore but the Stars and Rangers and Mavericks I hate to break it to you but those teams have only three championships between them one each for their entire existence so sometimes when I hear these narratives about the drought it's 30 something years well you know what It is frustrating but at the same time it's not unheard of it's actually pretty normal.

If championship seasons even making it to the championship games or the actual Super Bowl or whatever it's called in that in the other leagues If it was that easy everyone would be doing it and and the Cowboys would have been left in the dust by all these other teams and they haven't the top heavy club the Dallas Cowboys belong to with two dynasties and five Super Bowls and counting is still very special to be part of because it is they are not gapping us..
Only two from the entire league get the privilege to play in a Super Bowl each and every year. I wonder how the fans of other teams deal with being left out? We got spoiled by the teams Coach Landry trotted out their SB or not we were winners then came Coach Johnson and we got really spoiled. Now we toil in infamy until it is our turn again. I think we have a culture being built as well as a team that will compete hard to get us back to the SB. My spirit has been renewed that is for sure. Cowboys!!!!!

No, in the good years I’ve learned to treat each season as a chapter in a book- they are completely different. Ironically we’ve had the same ending the last 30 years the journey there has been different.

Last year is done, there was no saving it in season by firing eberflus although it would have made us feel better. He got fired immediately after the year was over and no way we can be optimistic about this year even if cautiously.

I still get pumped for football season, it’s escape from real life for a few hours to decompress during Sundays. I’m ready to rock (and be disappointed lol)

I did, then you acted like the 10 year old you are. And no, I don’t need to mind my own business on a public forum. I see that your boyfriend is still supporting you. Twinkle twinkle little star…
"You have issues problems you need to iron out. I will holla but for now you on timeout."

Eberflus gets way too much blame for what transpired last year but he also lacked situational awareness of what he was coming into. Maybe he was railing emotionally from his Chicago stint and wanted to redeem himself. But this wasn’t the answer.

The title says it all. In all my years as a fan, I've never seen a hire as bad as Eberflus. And everything that happened because they refused to fire him until it was too late just kinda made me lost interest. I didn't choose to be unenthused; the vibe from last year just makes me very skeptical about this year even tho BeeberFluff is no longer in Dallas.

Something about last season still has me mostly checked out as a fan.

Anyone else feel similarly?
Like the college girls you were checking out like a lecherous old man?

Last season was expected to be a bad season and it still sucked to watch. This offseason made this year interesting. I dont expect a good season again but it'll be an interesting building year for dallas. it'll be telling on if dallas can be contenders or not for the last 2 years of daks contract or not.

They're a hobby to me at this point. I pay more attention to them than other teams but with fantasy football and sports betting, that gap is narrowing. They'll always be my "favorite" team but the fanatacism of my youth has waned quite a bit.

Different franchise, different legacy, different ownership, different expectations from the fanbase. At least they've won Two (2) SB's in the last 30 years...They are allowed to be more confident at this point, IMO.
And the Cowboys haven't won in like 725 years, and yet the bucs are still 3 behind. How is that even possible?

I can relate. The 2025 football season was the least amount of Dallas Cowboys games I have watched. Just check the score and watch the last few minutes of game. I had a multitude of games where I just checked the final score.

I had to kind of laugh the vibe from last year made you skeptical.

There's a vibe from a whole lot of years that should make you skeptical.

The fact that Jerry wants to be the most valuable franchise in sports over winning a Super bowl that makes me skeptical.

The fact that he has said his priority is working with his family who we know are unqualified football people.

There's no reason to check out as a fan you just have to adjust your expectations accordingly.

This year Jerry decided to really make some effort so I will be optimistic and a little enthusiastic.
But I'm also not fool enough to think that he couldn't throw the team on the back burner at any point and pursue some other money making project.

All We can do is enjoy the scraps he throws us he is the king .

It's good to be the king and it sucks to be us peasants the fans especially when our hopes and dreams for the team don't coincide with the Kings.

This year the King has decided to give us a lot more than usual so why not try to enjoy it

Lol, I'm mostly checked out due to the last 30 years! Don't get me wrong,.I keep up with what the team is doing but I just don't get emotionally invested anymore, especially when playoff time comes (if they even make it). If it's a close game I get into it and hope we pull it out but as for as thinking or believing they are going to win it all..... I have to see some kind of playoff success first

I hear what you're saying really hadn't had anybody in 30 years that you can count on in the playoffs to step up when it matters and deliver.

But we have at least made an effort the last couple years now to acquire some people with the talent be able to step up if we get in the playoffs.

Pickens I think is a guy that could be clutch in a playoff situation Williams on defense could be that guy just waiting for the opportunity.

That said we will have to be patient and see but I'm at least hopeful because of the effort that has been made
