The Cowboys don't do stuff like that. The Patriots do.
I like this a lot. I do think we devalue the RT position. I would rather not move Collins. Keep him as is for stability and draft 2 Guards along with our free agency pick up to complete the line, I expect Tyron to continue digressing. That back and his 325 frame can only last so long. Unfortunately, we have 3 or 4 years invested in a LT that probably only has one year left. Looks like we will have another dead cap consumer just like Romo eventually.I suggested a Martin for Thomas, a fourth this year and a second next and was called 10 kinds of crazy.
Yes, it would be a loss. Yes, Martin is a stud. Yes, we would essentially have two guard spots we'd have to fill. But our cap positional spend would be back in whack.
We move Collins inside, Fleming at RT. Maybe new Martin at the other guard. Draft a guard and maybe pick up another guard during cut downs.
LIKE LIKE LIKE THIS!!!!!If that is the case, is he worth 16 million a year?
Hear me out....
Zack is one of my fave Cowboys but....he's playing hardball and will want a ridiculous contract.
We cant have all our cap dollars tied up in linemen, I wouldn' sign him anyway for the contract he wants so why not throw some trade bait out there
1st and 2nd or two 1sts...whatever
Dont hate the plan. Hate the fact that we put too much money into Tyron with all these restructures over the years coupled with declining play. If you spend a zillion dollars on your line you will have BIG holes in your line up in other places. If you spend about 50 million on the line how do you pay Dak and Zeke? "Dak friendly" includes having Dak and Zeke for years to come. I love Martin but we just cant afford him and still pay the rest of our team. Remember, Stephen Jones likes to sign his own players instead of making a splash. A 50 million dollar line will prevent that.So you want to get rid of a proven All Pro for a gamble in the draft? LOL. Great plan.
I agree. But we will be on the hook for all that signing bonus that we committed to when we restructured his deal twice. If Tyron wasn't hurting I would do this deal but something tells me he's going to retire early due to his back.
Martin's a good guy, but looking at the broad picture, that "market" is driven by multiple egos, and they keep growing, and growing,.....I don't think Martin is being unreasonable, its more about the market than Martin having an ego.
Here ya go he is all yoursI would trade Garrett for a bucket of vomit.

Nah that plan sucksThat is not a good plan.
Those teams had playmakers too but the problem was they were so cap constricted, they couldn't put a balanced team on the field at times.
If you are paying 25% of your cap to your OL, you are going to struggle to put a quality, rounded team on the field.
That's not to say I trade him just to trade him and save cap space. Someone would have to give up a lot to get him. But I don't think trading him if the return is great is some bizarre move.
Kind of depends on where the 1st is.
A top three 1st rounder equals about three late 1st rounders
Wow, that's a big bucketHere ya go he is all yours
